Drunk Pillions

The obvious thing is, taking a pillion who's drunk on the back of the bike is dangerous, as they might not be able to hold on, depending how drunk they are.

The question is, what is the law regarding this? Reason I ask is, my sister ended up getting into a fight with some rough bird in a pub an she had her purse stolen and couldn't get home, she was stuck.

So I rode down there and waited with her whilst I rang round several taxi places, all who couldn't get a taxi out for 2 hours or so and though, if I had a spare helmet, I could of taken her home. She wasn't leathered, as in, couldn't stand up but she'd had a few to drink.

What would happen if you got a pull with a drunk pillion on the back?

I've never heard of any laws surrounding it, but that's not to say that there aren't any...
Provided she was sober enough to understand that you don't sod about on the back of a bike, I think it'd be fine.

It's perfectly legal and it's not as bad as people make out.

I would even go as far to say that my best pillions have been drunk at the time.

I have had much better pillions who have been drunk than some that have been completely sober.

And when I say drunk, I don't mean comatose and cannot hold on/puking up etc.

I'd much rather take some of my mates who are drunk on the back rather than even some people I've had on the back, sober who ride scooters.

Not dangerous at all if you trust the person, they are able to have a half decent conversation with you and they are in a pretty sensible state.

As for the law, they may breathalyze you as its more likely that you've had a drink if your pillion has (eg. going to pubs etc). but it's not illegal.

EDIT: It'd only become a problem if they started doing something stupid like throwing stuff at cars and generally messing about. But It'd be the same story in a car too.

Ive taken 2 drunk pillions

1st was fine, sat sencibly, no problems. even payed me for petrol Thumbs Up

2nd was my step brother-in-law. Drunk so decided to put his arm out while going past cars. He wont do that again Thumbs Up

I was thinking about this the other day! I have no idea but I know from my test that a pillion passenger 'must be able to sit astride the machine with both feet reaching the pillion pegs and must be sensible enough to hold on' So I guess it depends how drunk Very Happy

Then again you wouldn't want to take anyone on the back if they weren't sensible enough to hold on

It depends on your definition of drunk. I can drink two pints of my local brew and pass a breath-test. I can drink four pints and still function 99%.
If the pillion was falling over no way I would give her a lift

It looks like there are no actual laws against carrying a drunk pillion.
But be aware if they are causing you to weave around due to their lack of balance, you could get done for due, care and attention or even Dangerous driving.

Never mind the fact that they could cause you to come off.

You should be Bull Fucked for 'drink driving' anything.
Sitting on a bike as a drunk passenger should be the same as drunk and in charge of.
You could easily cause a serious accident.

This drunk got 7 yrs for causing the death of a pillion.
His sentence was reduced to 5 on appeal.
I would like five minutes with the cunts who reduced the sentence.
