just got home to find a letter from the law!

camera got me doing 60mph in a 50mph zone, what a ludicrously fast speed! i wasn't aware motor vehicles could even dream of achieving such dizzying velocity Confused

oh well, 60 quid it is then. and 3 points. absolute balls. had one of these in a car but that was years ago. that was the bastard camera van at the M4 severn toll plaza! license to print money if you ask me.... Evil or Very Mad

in all seriousness though i can't even picture where the camera that got me this time was, clearly not paying enough attention. which actually is not good. Thumbs Down

is there anything i can do?? apart from slow down of course...

Join the club Laughing Bet quite a few of us on here have 3 points on our licence. I currently am carrying 3 from last June when I got caught doing 42 in a 30. My fault totally, I wasn't watching the change in speed limit, I had just left a 40 limit when plod with his camera got me Evil or Very Mad
Bet quite a few of us on here have 3 points on our licence.
up until 6 months ago i had 9 points on my licence, and i'd been on 9 points for about 4 months... was terrifying having to drive / ride around everywhere being so careful not to creep over the speed limit..

But back down to 3 points now, such a relief !!

I got flashed by a camera once and I was going the way that they'd get my plate.

I was dreading the mail for 14 days. Gladly nothing came through.

I have 0 points, however if I get 6 points then I get my licence taken off me.

6 months to wait until the full 12 point allowance and full, unrestricted licence.

I've been nicked three times in total. First time was on the M25 (those crappy 50mph limits they put up on the overhead signs). Second time I was pulled by some plod, I was doing like 70 in a 30 zone (used to be a national speed limit... no houses/kittens to be seen and it was 5:00am), they were coming towards me in a van and pulled onto my side of the road. I locked my wheels trying to stop in time. The copper gave me a bollocking about doing "Warp speed 9" Rolling Eyes . Third time I thought I was in a 40zone (which it used to be), got clocked doing 36mph in a 30zone (speedo obviously over reads by 10%).

First time it was my Dads wife's car (he was asleep in the passenger seat). She blamed him, he blamed some guy at work, he blamed his missus, who then blamed the milkman... and so on. I think after a year they got bored. Second time they hadn't actually clocked my speed so after the usual "yes sir, no sir, can I suck your cock sir", I was let on my way. Third time I said it wasn't me driving (they only had a photo of the rear of the car), it was actually a company van, so I just told the courts that I had been blamed unfairly and that I had hit upon a brick wall trying to find out who was driving it. Magistrates just looked at me and said "It's your lucky day, you're free to go". Cool

EDIT:
My wife just reminded me of the time I was racing a honda civic... I did 90 past on of those little cameras on a tripod in a 60mph limit. Didn't see it until I was adjacent to it, I was swearing for 14 days solid, after which no NIP came and I was in the clear! Cool

How have I managed to never get a point on my licence??? Razz

I think slowing down when you know that just ahead there's gonna be huge masses of stopped cars clustered around a toll plaza crawling with cops is a good idea, yes.

well, yes. that was in a van about 3 years ago. my point about that little beauty is the fact that a major motorway national speed limit turns to 50mph, just before a toll plaza (which advertises itself and its costs a long long time before the tiny area of speed limit kicks in, right by a handy bridge with a camera van on it). and theres not many vehicles on that motorway that don't have to slow down, and stop, at the toll. so it seems like a bit of a money maker to me.

"nice use of sarcasm though."
