bike crash near camborne, cornwall (18/08/09) - any info?

does anyone know anything about the condition of the rider that was involved in the crash below?

anyone near the camborne area know him or who he is?
last i heard was 2 days after the accident and he was still in a serious condition in hospital

No offence but what does it really matter to you if you didn't know him or weren't there when it happened etc.

Would you be asking the same thing if someone crashed a car near you and was in a "critical condition"?

We know that bikers crash and die. It's the risk that we take, so why do you need to find out if a total stranger to you has died or not?

It seems to me it's out of sick curiosity rather than finding out if he's ok as it makes no difference to you whether or not he lived or died.

If he was a mate though then I'd be really pissed off at the fact complete strangers are trying to find out if he's dead or not.

Your intentions were probably good, but this is the way I see it.

normally i would agree with you, but i was the first on scene and witness to the accident, a lot has been playing on my mind.
i live away from the accident site so don't get the local news, etc etc.

Alright mate, that's fair enough. Sorry about that. Try phoning round the hospitals etc but it's quite hard to get information from them.

Whatever the outcome, you probably did a good job whether that was just phoning for an ambulance or keeping him calm or whatever. If it's bad news then don't blame yourself.

Sounds quite serious- it can be quite a busy part of the road but should have been quieter at that time of the evening Confused

Doubt you will get any info from the hospital- confidentiality and all that but I will have a look in the paper for you Smile

Edit- if the police were there, they might be able to give you some info too

I had a similar thing when I arrived on the scene 30 seconds after a cyclist had been hit by a lorry on the A45. It was pretty harrowing and it played on my mind for a while but you'll forget about it soon enough Thumbs Up I was also scouring the papers to try and find out about his condition at the time Sad

I think from the style of WN's post it's clear that there is some sort of personal involvement as to why he wants to know the condition of the rider.
