03 Hornet Engine in 00 Bike?????

Hi all, can anybody help me.... I bought a V reg Honda Hornet about 2 weeks ago and the engine is in a real bad way, headgaskets gone, valves are bent, pistons and rings are knackered the works.

So ive found an engine for a 2003 model but will it go into my Hornet or will there be complications or mods needed....

Should fit. The engine's the same as is the frame.

As big ham said.

Failing that go down the mod route and fit a cbr6f engine or a fireblade engine.

I was thinking about the cbr6f or the blade but decided to go with a normal hornet engine, the only key different ive noticed is on the top of the engine there are 2 more air lines didnt know if that would matter tho....

btw alun111 liking the conversion of the rear im thinking about the same on mine and then get it painted n streetfightered, quite easy to do isnt it??

Cheers mate, Yer it's not too hard. It's mainly the seat lock that's a pain (as you have to custom make one). You have to take your time cutting the side panels too... otherwise it will be crap and look it too!

im so tempted 2 put a cbr lump in her its unbelievable lol.... im hoping to sort 1 out 2day and pick it up on saturday n spend sunday fitting it so at least then it will b done, but i will let u all kno wha i decide on

sorry guys 1 other thing is will my carbs be ok with the 03 engine or do i need 2 by the injection system aswell???
