(Mods please move this if it is in the wrong place!)
Hi everyone
As some of you might remember I bought a brand new Yamaha XT125X about 2 months ago. Since then I have been breaking in the engine and it went for its first service last week once the breaking in period was over (about 600 miles). However it is still struggling in the speed department, ie. It is going about 46 tops, managing 50 downhill! I have seen on the internet that these bikes should have a top end speed nearer 70mph. Therefore I was wondering if any of you guys would be able to shed any light on why my bike is still only reaching about 46mph, do you think there is something wrong with the bike?
Thanks for your help. ____________________ CBT passed 20th June 2009

Do a bit of googling, i bet its just the speedo uni/speedo pickup that needs replacing
There have been a lot of reports of the speedos going haywire. I had an 07 XT125X and the speedo pickup needed replacing (just stopped reading) but sometimes they don't fail all together, they just read a lot lower than they should.
Either that or it has been set for the R model and is under reading stupidly (due to having a smaller front wheel, i think that works out right)
Either way, get it booked in and get it sorted under warranty ____________________ It's all fun and games until someone gets hurt, then it's bloody hilarious!!! |
