Anyone caught on it this evening? Anyone know what the fuck was wrong?
Took me 70 minutes to get from Junction 12 to Junction 8. Absolute gridlock, 4 lanes.
Also, can people please give a public service announcement to cagers they know... if held up in traffic. Please don't assume it is a good time to have a picnic in the middle of the road
It was the dodgy looks I was getting that were infuriating. It wasn't like I was the first bike past, I caught up to plenty. So how had they not twigged eh? Suicidal cages is one thing, but the paperwork involved if a cager popped out infront of you when filtering... well it's enough to make you slow down (a bit) ____________________ China traffic/travel bike vid - When I make a sweeping statement, please add the word 'statistically' in to the sentence before you bitch...
From September 2014 to January/February 2015 I will not be using any English, nor reading any. As such, I won't be on here. PM at will, but I won't be checking/posting unless in emergencies. Certainly not for the first couple of months. Please berate me savagely if I break that rule... |

Oh, I've heard its reputation. But I've never seen carnage like it before. 4 junctions, 20 odd miles, solid stationery filtering. Get off the motorway, and EVERY bit of road jammed solid on the way to the first open junction.
Plus, how do cagers, on roads that haven't moved in 10 minutes, still find space to dart from lane to lane ____________________ China traffic/travel bike vid - When I make a sweeping statement, please add the word 'statistically' in to the sentence before you bitch...

I do know they're doing work around Junction 25, mainly because I got stuck in it for almost an hour on tuesday lunchtime (WHY did I decide to take the car???)
The m25 is never going to get better, only worse. I don't know why I bother going on it - it seems people automatically drive 10 times worse on it! There are some real lunatics out there - coming back (again, tuesday) the cars in front of me (about 4 of them) were only a few metres away from each other - no wonder there are so many accidents! ____________________ Founder of www.motorcycledirectory.co.uk |

Everyone's taken to the roads this afternoon - it's the bank holiday.
I had exactly the same happen a couple of years ago riding from Beaconsfield to Dartford. Traffic was solid and mostly stationary from the M4 to Clacketts Lane, then queueing from Swanley to the tolls. very stressful riding because of people opening doors and generally milling about on the carriageway. ____________________ a.k.a 'Geri'

I pulled onto the M25 straight into the jam after this happened this morning...biker was being treated near the central reservation and the whole carriageway was covered in bits of wood and boards and nails...
Only benefit was as soon as i crept past the scene the motorway was clear so booted it home ____________________ Honda NSR125 - Yamaha R6 - Ducati 748 - Suzuki GSXR750K6/GSXR1000K7/GSXR750K8 - Ducati 848 - Honda SP1 - Triumph Daytona 675

It was a very similar situation in the south west on Friday evening: M5 reopens after bridge incident, this fella took 7 hours to kill himself, damned inconvenient and I reckon there was at least 10,000 people that would've have helped him do it, still that'll learn him he won't do that again!
Closing the Avonmouth bridge is a really bad thing to do as there's only one other route north, and that's straight through the middle of Bristol.
Barrel of laughs my commute was last night, I filtered for about 10 miles, ticked off a few traffic violations, got caught in a thunder storm, and hail, had loopy students jump out from between parked cars, saw the SS Great Britain, the cathedral, the zoo, Clifton Downs, stopped for fuel, etc...
Took me an hour and a half to cover 40 miles, the only consolation was I didn't experience the 40mph winds on the Avonmouth bridge. ____________________ My claim to fame: Austin Vince nicked my pen... |
