Grease?

Hi all
I have taken my wheels of for the new tyres tommorow, now i have wiped blown and brushed everything clean, but i know to grease the spindles and a smear of grease around the seals and visible bearings but what about the speedo drive?, it has a very light smear of blue stuff (grease?) on it. Should i put a good dollop om lm grease in there before assembly or should it be nearly dry?.

I tend to whack some on the axle before I put it back through now and again.

Can't see it hurting, I've always done it.

I usually pack the speedo drive with a good dollop of LM grease and put a thin coating of copper grease on the spindle and threads.

Reasons being the speedo drive is a high movement, low load part which LM grease will lubricate nicely. The spindle is not a moving part so all you want to do is prevent it seizing in place, copper grease will do this but don't use so much that it can contaminate the grease on the moving parts.

Oh shit what a difference these make, the bike is like its on rails and i get no squirming on the white lines, it felt a bit strange at first but no i know the difference between crap tyres and good, decent grip straight away but i will be carefull for the first 100 miles woot.

100 miles??? ya dont need that long, about 20 - 30 should be enough to get off the shiny stuff, just careful in he wet more than anything. just dont do any crazy knee downs until youve totally gotten rid of the stuff

Personally I'm careful for the first 5 minutes or so then just ride it as usual. Never really thought about how long it takes to get rid of the mould release stuff.

I do a wee burnout then ride as normal.

Well ive done 60 miles on so far and i cant believe the difference, no more twitching on tar banding and white lines, it just roles in and out of corners and the response or flickability as some would say is awsome, everything is a lot smoother and better feeling even on theses skinny wheels, lets hope i get a few miles out of them with my big arse .

Need some new tyres on my bike, but will leave it until next spring now, winter will be along soon....

The feeling of riding on new, fresh tyres is ace, especially when your old ones are well fooked and square off
