PostPosted: 16:02 - 28 Aug 2009    Post subject: My L Plates has been broken and got 3 points. Please Advise Reply with quote

Hi there,

I was given a £60 fines and 3 points penalty for riding my bike with half broken L plate. I live in Stratford and some group of youth steps on my L plate without any reasons, and on that morning I saw the plate on the floor and I put in into my bike storage, I have passed many police and some police cars were just behind me but did not stop me, I mean this is not the first time I ride with half broken L plate because I felt really unfair to waste a few pounds to buy a new one and a few weeks later, it gets broken again. I was thinking to bring it to work and fix it with a tape as it seems to be fixible.

However, I was riding from home to work 2 days ago and I have been stop near Oxford Circus where a policeman on a bike told me to stop aside, I signalled and stop and switch off my scooter engine and say good morning Sir. However, he chosed not to be friendly. Whatever he talks, it is so rude. First word from him "it is not a good day for you aint it, it is turning into nightmares for you". I think this officer is a bully and race decrimination. Until today,I am still feeling the word "nightmare" from the policeman and it is causing stress to me.

I have got 7 days to pay my fines and 3 points, but would it be possible to appeal for this case?

Thanks in advance.

No it will not be possible. You have been caught bang to rights breaking the law.

Any sympathy you may have got was lost when you tried playing the race card.

How the fuck do you think the policeman knew your race before you took off your helmet you ignorant little shit Rolling Eyes

I would say that there is not much that you can do but take the points on the chin.

It sounds like you were pulled over by an idiot.

It's not like you removed them intentionally as I presume some of it was still there.

Good luck if you decide to go to court.

I agree with the race card. Just because he was harsh on you doesn't mean he wouldn't be harsh on someone if they were white.

As above.

You took the risk of breaking the law, you got fucked over by being caught.

Take the points and as has been said above, playing the race card is about the lowest thing you could have possibly done.

Thumbs Down

I think you'll find he's treating you as a law breaker, which is exactly what you were being at the time.

Maybe he just treats everyone like that? The kind of Copper he is..

Well if it is not the first time that you have ridden it with a broken L plate then eventually you were going to get caught/fined.

Your story confuses me as to when the plate got snapped off, was it the morning that it got broken on the same day that you got stopped? Either which way you have also admitted that you were riding home from work when you got pulled so it certainly wasn't on the first journey that you made on that bike with that broken L plate.

You have no real chance of appeal, grin and bear it.

You got 3 points and a fine, you admit you were breaking the law, from what you have typed he wasnt particularly rude to you.

What pisses me off is your attitude. Claiming he was racist?? WTF is that all about? You think because you are black/asian/spanish/french/whatever he should have let you go?

If you seriously think that its time you fucked off back to where you came from, cause you are going to be severly disapointed in Blighty.

As for bullying? what evidence? How did he bully you and why didnt you stick up for yourself?

You got caught, received the standard fixed penalty, same as anyone else would get.

The only thing that sickens me is the attitude you have shown.

And for the record I am not racist in any way, except maybe towards those soft southern twats Wink

Oh dear - our Terrorist-releasing cousins never were much cop with our sassenach tongue.....

The 'right back at ya' comment referred to the vicious 'racism' you said you'd be happy to unleash upon your civilised brethren south of Hadrian's wall.

Maybe he wasn't wearing a helmet, but a Turban?

"Sikhs who wear Turbans need not wear crash helmets when they ride Motor Cycles or Scooters. They have been allowed to wear Turban as their only headgear. In accordance with the Motor-Cycle Crash Helmets (Religious Exemption) Act 1976 passed by the British Parliament in 1976, Section 2A 'exempts any follower of the Sikh religion while he is wearing a turban' from having to wear a crash helmet."

What a stupid law that is.

One mans terrorist releaser is another mans compassionate society Wink

TBH it had its plus points, allows us to stick two fingers up at the Yanks who sheltered the IRA Wink

As for civilisation below the wall (one of two walls which stand testament to our ability to defend our country unlike some) I grant you that, however as you borrowed it from us and are still lagging a bit behind I was surprised you brought it up Wink

Edit: Damn nearly missed that, Sassenach tongue? So you admit you speak with the tongue of a lowland Scot? Or are you mistaken in the belief that Sasenach refers to the English Wink

So to stop yourself getting shafted again, carry spare L's and cable ties with you. Harper's in Forest Gate, just down the road from you, does them for 50p/£1 depending if you go for sticky type or the rigid ones. If you do have enough room on your scooter to put a sticky plate, I suggest you do, as then it can't get broken as easily. And also buy a cover, decent chain and ground anchor for it because in Stratford, you're asking for it to be stolen. The cover will probably also lower the chances of some cretin doing anything to your machine. Thumbs Up

By the way, it's London, police aren't soft on anyone there.

Is anyone else reading that in Lenny Henry's really thick Jamaican pisstake accent? All it needs is a 'HEH HEH HEH, HEH-HAAAAAAAA!' on the end.
