Hi.

I've got a friend interested in one of these:

Clicky

Now, i'm skeptical. The seller said in an email that the exhaust fell off and he's been riding round like that for a few miles. Possibly longer which got my friend worried. He retracted his bid.

My friend emailed and got this reply which I think is quite funny... :

Quote:
Hi they run scooters over rich. this gives increased longevity although a reduction in perfomance. you will have noticed this on servicing your scooter as they have a darker plug than usual. the back pressure your talking about is helpful for an engine but will not cause any problem in a short term even running for many miles would not cause a problem to be honest. so far since the exhaust has been off i have done about 2 miles at the most (morrisons is about 800 yrds away and i have nipped up there 2-3 times.) i can happily remove your bid if you would.

He has offered my friend £250.

Bargain or potential future horror story?

I'd buy it just to see if I could get it to roll over the screen/roof.

I like the almost ironic use of the phrase 'nipped up'.

its a 4 stroke. riding it without an exhaust wont have mattered much in the slightest.

my GSXR400 never actually had a proper exhaust, and one of the downpipes sheared off at the manifold on one of the cylinders.

still got 5000 miles out of it. and the exhaust was not the reason it died.
