Search here on the forums or google "honda hornet 600 manual" or something.
I quickly googled it and found plenty of sources. An in depth manual ought to tell you exactly what you need to know |

Is it restricted? My CBR was very reluctant to rev past 8k when it was restricted to 33bhp.
Got any pics of the engine, and which hoses you mean? ____________________

i havent got any pics at the moment but here is the ebay item number of my engine 200374177675 you can see 2 pipes on the top cover without hoses there the 1's i need to know what they are 4, dont think its restricted, the caps are out of the inlet rubbers, dont know if it has another restriction in it, when i rev it, its as tho it is trying to cut out on me past 8000 revs.... however i think i may need a new cdi unit as the 1 im using currently is for the original 2000 engine and i know the 2003 engine uses a different 1, any ideas where i can get a cheap cdi for this engine??

Using an incorrect CDI with your engine could result in the ignition advance being wrong which might cause detonation and other issues!
I'd suggest that might be the root of the problem if you've removed the restrictors.

Wait, how have you got this engine in the bike and running, when you don't know what those 2 hoses are?
The large one that is to one side is the top radiator hose! have you not got the radiator connected?!
I think the smaller one in the middle of the valve cover might be an air hose that should be connected to the airbox, I know my CBR has alot of small random air hoses for the PAIR and DAI systems, that look like that...
Timmeh, I think the engine he bought is the same as the older bikes. (An F3 CBR engine). They only recently changed the Hornets engine in 2007 to a detuned 600rr lump. ____________________

Tbh, I would expect all the other parts to fit straight onto the "newer" engine.
They may have update the electronics on the newer bikes, but the engine was still the same. The carbs an electrics from an earlier bike should still work. ____________________

This is turning into alot of work lol, the engine runs great, at the moment ive got the 2 lines running to the airbox as the f3 has the same rad set-up as the fx model (2000) which is why i didnt think they hooked up to it, as for HISS, the bike starts up fine without a worry, im looking for a loom and cdi currently so that i can eliminate as many possible issues as i can, the bikes only done about 1/4 of a mile with the cdi as it is, so fingers crossed it hasnt caused any problems.... does any1 know a site where i can view the set up, or any other ideas??
