Cleaning my bike....

Just wondering how I would go about cleaning a CBR600...

I was looking into the Muc-Off products at Halfords such as the polish and chain cleaners etc....

Any help on how to clean the bike as I never used to wash my scooters lol.

I just use AutoGlym shampoo then dry it off...that's it.

Either that or some cheap castrol bike cleaner and muc-off degreaser for the REALLY filthy parts.

I use some TurtleWax wash'n'wax in a bucket of hot water to clean the seat / fairings / controls / mirrors / other plastic bits.

I use some "SDoc100 Motorcycle cleaner gel" on the front of the bike (helps soften up dried on dead bugs) and on the wheels (way better at dissolving grease than normal soap, and less harsh on the paint than a degreaser).

"SDoc100 Chain cleaner power gel" on the chain. Spray in onto the chain, leave for 15 mins and then hose off. It's wonderful stuff. Use a rag to prevent overspray onto the brakes and tyres. (Important!)

I do the chain first, and then the rest of the bike. After cleaning, I hose all the soap off, and then dry the bike with a chamoise leather. With the bike on it's centre stand, I go through the gears on tickover, to fling all the water off the chain. Put it back in neutral and relube the chain. I just pour some ScottOil on a rag and run the chain through it. Using my hand to turn the wheel backwards, do NOT use the engine! You can fuck up your hands if you have an accident. I say backwards also, because it stops the rag getting dragged onto the sprocket.

The SDoc100 stuff is rather pricey compared to some cleaners, but I use it because it works so well, and with little effort. £15 or so for the bike cleaner, and about £5 for the chain cleaner.

If you want the bike to dry without leaving water marks all over, dry it with a chamois leather!

Taking time in cleaning in details also familiarises you with the bike, so if something isn't as it should be, you'll notice. (Hey, wheres that bolt gone? Oh, that's fell off! Hey, there's a snail on my undertray! etc.)
