I was pulled up in a sort of layby with the mrs neither of us on the bike at the time, officer prick pulls up in his 4x4 police car and starts questioning me about my plate.

'how long have you had the bike' - dunno, not long i said.

then he wanted me to be more specific, to which i said about a year.
so then he asked me the usual shit about how long has the plate been on the bike for etc.

it was a 1 liner plate but on the large size compared to some you see with tiny/weird fonts, but meh..

anyway after 20 fucking questions he asks me to come sit in the car with him, so i made it quite clear this man was pissing me off as we'd only stopped for 5 mins to have a break in the first place and didn't appriciate being questioned and then asked to come and sit in some car.

So i get in the car and he starts writing on some ticket/fine form to which he says it's a £60 fine etc...

i'd just lost my job at the time and wasn't going to pay it, so i said you can't fine me becuase i wasn't riding it when you saw me, and if i have to i'll push it home as " it's broken down, officer "

even though he said none of this mattered he let me go and just told me to change it asap, didn't give me a form or anything Confused

question being, would he have been ok to fine me for it despite not seeing me riding the bike at the time? Laughing
This happened a few weeks back but i still don't know if what i said was right even though i got away with it.

I can't say 100% sure, but if it's on the public highway then yes, I'd imagine if the number plate is illegal then he can do you.

TBH, you've always known it's illegal so if you didn't want the bother you should of replaced it. I've been done loads of times for very tiny plates, you just have to take it on the chin I'm afraid. You could of told him it should only be a £30 fine too!

A friend of mine got pulled the other day for taking both hands of the bars to pull his top down (as it had ridden up during the minger he'd just pulled which the Poo-lice missed), they noticed his plate which is a large clear one liner and he was let off with a warning too.

If you hadn't given him attitude you wouldn't have had grief and be on your way, not knowing exactly how long you have had a vehicle rings alarm bells simple as that. Wink

he just came accross as a cunt, he was one of those condescending coppers who really wind me up.

I'm not so sure what they can or can't have you for, seeing as they didn't see either of you two riding it and that you might not have been on the public highway at the time.

Either which way I have learnt in the past that single line plates just ask for trouble, even decent-ish sized ones and you are much better off with something bigger and squarer. They may not look as good but at least your heart doesn't skip a beat everytime you pass a police car that is waiting ready to pounce, or even when one is behind you in the normal flow of traffic. Thumbs Up

Confused of course they can do it. He saw a bike with an illegal plate on the public highway, he was only doing his job.

And btw I have been fined in the past for a plate that was only JUST smaller than reg, and was square.

Sounds like the guy was far from being a cunt, otherwise you would have a fine Confused

I don't really get this thread from what I can see I picture it like this.

You have an illegal numberplate and you are wondering if the copper who nicking you for it is doing something illegal.

To put it simply you where braking the law so the "law enforcer" can do it yes.

If you had a legal numberplate would he of stopped ?

Doubt it.

Not true, stupid laws are passed because people don't pressure their elected representitives to represent their interests by opposing said laws.

Hetz have you ever been spoken to by a copper? I'm probably not the first person on bcf to think it but I reckon you act like a complete queer when a copper questions you.

Pretty much of your posts on bcf are about "sticking to man" and their imaginary bullshit laws.

But if you got robbed or your mum got stabbed or sister got raped (if any of those apply) the first person you would call is the ol bill.

How I see it as you act like the sensitive generic police hating wannabe that when approached by a copper act like a complete pussy with all your yes sir no sir bollocks, however I could be wrong and you could actually spit in the face of every pig in sight.

I guess we will never no and I'll probably get karma bombed to he'll and back but I'm just saying my bit.

Individual opinions and all that stuff you bang on about.

Back on topic though as towards your fine ben i would consider yourslf very lucky.

Oh yeah, I'm a real pussycat with old bill. Thinking

I think the worst altercation I've had with them was when they'd put me in a solitary-confinement cell (for advising another prisoner to make a formal complaint after a pig slapped him around the face), which I then destroyed and flooded. When a bunch of them threw open the door and stood outside with dogs and batons (I was also screaming loud enough to put the magistrates off in the courtroom across the way) I was BEGGING them to come in and have some. Strangely they declined. I think I was naked too. Laughing

But these days the only interaction I have with them is when I'm stopped while going about my vehicular business. Now, the first thing I'm thinking is "Am I going to get the patronising lecture, followed by a let-off, or is he going straight for the ticket or is he going to have his cake and eat it and do both?" So, I'm polite and civil, waiting to see which way the wind is going to blow. But soon as I see I'm going to get a ticket, that's it, he's getting the wind-up, full fucking bore. No abuse, nothing I can be nicked for, just the infliction of my intellect and quick wit vs his fucktard excuse for a mind and all the humiliation and ego-squashing that entails.

Scared of them? Oh sure, maybe if this was a bannana-republic and I'd likely be dragged out of sight and shot for not saying "sir". But then if I lived in a country like that I'd "sir" it up a storm, take whatever I had to take, then snipe one dead a few days later, at my leisure.

So when I've been stopped for a small plate (as I have), I've been nice and most times I've been let off. But the one time I got a ticket I let the wanker know what a worthless jobsworth cvnt he was for enforcing a petty, pointless and BS 'law'. aND AT THAT POINT i COULD HAVE GIVEN A FLYING FVCK ABOUT MY DARK VISOR AND LOUD EXHAUST. bUT BY THEN THE WANKER CAN'T GET AWAY QUICK ENOUGH, LEST HIS EGO ENTIRELY CRUMBLE AND BLOW AWAY LIKE DUST IN THE WIND. Oh bollocks, I clipped the caps-lock. Can't be arsed to re-type it.

I've coated off more pigs than I can remember. I've been nice to a few too. Yes, there are decent ones, but that doesn't mean you can afford to give any one of them the benefit of the doubt, because that's when you'll get badly fvcked. Be nice, to start with, but assume the one you're dealing with is a criminal scumbag, that way you can't really go wrong (unless you've just murdered a child in broad daylight in front of a streetful of witnesses, in which case you're fvcked regardless of how nice the pig is). Basically they have to pass my attitude test. Fvck that up and they're in for a day-wrecking experience.

Sorry but the law is the law, if you are in the wrong expect the punishment. I have a loud can and a little plate, if I get done for it then it is my fault, I knew the law I knew the consequence. I'm not saying i would be happy about it but I don;t see why you should give a copper shit for doing his job if you are in the wrong.

Accept it, if you don't like it go somewhere else.
