air filter on dt?

I just ordered myself a pipercross airfilter for my dt125-r, it says 30% more airflow, increased performance etc...

Was just wondering if will need to rejet the carb and if so approx how many jet sizes would i need to go up by?

On some bikes you do need to upset and on some you don't, if you don't need to upjet but you do(because you can), you'll probably get the most of that extra performance.

With mine I didn't upjet and it didn't make a difference, it wasn't running rich or lean and it was fine.

But with my mates 50 he stuck a k&n air filter on it and it would barely move.

I'd buy a box of jets around your stock jet size just in case, you can also use them for future modifications.

Are you getting rid of the Air box?

If so, Then dont do it, Stick with the Standard airbox.

Its a standard airbox, just the filter element, just wondering if i would need to rejet for this and if it would make it run any better?

hi,
im guessing its just the pipercross panel you've bought then & not an open conical filter.
dont beleive all the hype.
they last for ages though.
apart from that, you wont notice much difference.
a conical mesh open type filter, now thats something different all together.

is it worth getting one of the mesh air filters to replace it then, i had one on my moped and i rejetted it etc, still got loads of jets, just didnt know if it would make much difference with the right size jet?

if your original air-box is still working stick with it, otherwise you will be forking out loads of money, and well its pointless in my opinion.

A less restrictive filter in the standard airbox may be worthwhile. Bare in mind you may need bigger pilot jets too. Main jet selection will be down to trying a few sizes (i'd buy the next three or four sizes up from the stock jet and stick the biggest one in first).
