hi just bought an xr600 1996 model for some green laning anyone got any experence with them?
are the anygood in mud?
i know its heavey but it seems well planted and dosnt skip about like lighter bikes do i can lift it from the ground with 1 hand and its very easy to kick start
so anyone riden 1 in sticky mud and deep ruts?
how did you get on with it?
im a big bloke so the size is no problem

it is very nearly mint just needs a seat cover but i did pay alot for it £1100 for an N reg bike!!!

One way to find out if you already have it Wink.
Big bloke or not, a bike that weighs 30% less is still going to be nicer in most off-road situations.

I was quite surprised how well my 690 handled deep mud, especially when compared to some 'proper' enduro bikes. I suspect the high gearing and decent low-down go meant it worked well on the power-pulse kind of principal.

as much as ide love to do an enduro i think this is totaly the wrong bike but for some muddy fun i cant wait to get it muddy..lol
still 6 more week of no rideing tho due to hand injury and 3 opps Crying or Very sad

The incident mentioned with the 690 was a Hare and Hounds in really nasty muddy conditions - it was my first one and I finished in a middling position, though mostly because loads of people dropped out.
The XR probably weighs about the same and makes less power - however it's not like I used over half-revs that day anyway Smile.

(However, given the choice, I'd take the 200 I've now got, definitely Smile .)

ive owned 3 xr600's a couple of xr250's and pretty much everything else in between,
the xr's are tanks and slightly underpowered, but they'll go anywhere with out any hassle, and will be going long after loads of other bikes have been sent to the big scrap yard in the sky.
the best all round bike out there in my opinion
