My daughter found, and adopted this ugly thing in our garden, and wants to find out what it is;

Slug 1
Slug 2

It's like a slug, but with a spike on his tail, and he has little feet at the front. He was munching through a dandelion leaf like a machine at the time.

Tried looking at some slug websites (which make my stomach turn over...yukk) but I can't find anything that shows what species/make/model it is.

Anyone know what little 'Slumo' is..?

Edit: Forgot to mention, when he gets scared he retracts his head into his body, which makes him look like a little snake with those 'eyes' on the side.

Looks like a juvenile graboid to me.

Watch out, it'll be eating Burt Lancaster next.

Embarassed Because it looked quite slimy and only had feet at one end, and my experience of caterpillars is that they are furry, and many-legged. I see I have done an injustice to this interesting little creature.

Cheers, kwaker6r (and the slightly later, but no less appreciated Azonicben Smile). That's it exactly. She will be pleased. She'd be more pleased if I hadn't told her to let it go after she had in a tub for a couple of days. Now she'll have to catch another one so we can watch it 'evolve'. Very Happy

Cheers all!

Fantastic, your daughter likes slugs Shocked

Would she like to choose from one of the 480+ I collected the other morning?

https://i498.photobucket.com/albums/rr344/Tonkatoo_2008/th_DSC00674.jpg

I actually lost count (along with the will to live) and had to put them in a Next carrier bag, as the bucket wasn't big enough! Sick

I'm sure they can be posted (think of it as naked snail mail) Mr. Green

It is a UK Moth, feeding on flowers such as honeysuckle. Can be found with the pink or green colouring. Late in the season to find now, usually fly May to July.
