I got some money for my birthday and want to invest in some head gear.

My current helmet is crap flip front.

I would like

Comfy, < wind noise.

I got about 250 to spend but could push to 350 if i like one thats AWESOME

Anyone like to whore pictures up of their helmets with there worth?

kbc, got it on sale a fair while ago for £150 with free £50 visor. probably a fair bit cheaper now. like a good bargain me

comfier than my mates arai, no wind noise, very soft, face hugging pads. all removable.
double D strap, easy change visor. vents give good ventilation.

I used to have an Arai helmet, changed it recently for a cheapo RST on sale for £30 which scored higher in the SHARP tests (if that means anything) and is quieter. Not quite as comfy round the ears but I could get 10 of them for the price of a replacement Arai Does make me wonder if it's worth paying the extra when the price difference is so large and the only obvious difference is the slightly higher quality of the mechanisms and material etc.

...cue all the "you can't put a price on your head" posts. Mine is worth £30

@ that hornet just try some on is all I can suggest. I like the caberg ones with the built in sun visor very neat.

I don't think you can buy a bad helmet in the UK. You can buy a noisy one, a badly fitting one, but not a bad one (unless its from a market and used as a football).

I've had an Arai, hated it because it didn't fit me well and was horribly noisy. Had an AGV which felt crap. Shark, wonderful helmet. HJC, fit me like a glove and have 2.

But others will say different.

Buy one that fits, makes you look good to the ladys and matches your bike!!

The most important thing is how well it fits you. A cheapo lid from Aldi will protect you better in a crash than a £500 Arai lid if the Aldi one fits you better.

Buy on what fits you, not what someone on BCF has said they've got and they like.

Try on as many different lids as possible, then you'll know what fits you well and so what you're choosing between.

As Ste suggests and as you want 'comfy' - it's going to be a case of you trying them on, as different helmets fit different people differently.

HJC CS-12 here, cost me £25 during an offer, less noisy than the Shoei I have, better ventilation too. slightly uncomfortable round the forehead though

I ordered an AGV K3 the other day but got it an it was too big, so I sent it back with a view to getting a replacement one in a smaller size but then I saw this an got it instead...

AGV TiTech for me, however XR1000s fit me too. Arais on the other hand don't fit me at all.

I was watching a video on youtube on adjusting an Arai visor so I thought I'd check to see my helmets. All three had a gap at one point or another in the visor. Just get a bit of paper and push it between the rubber seal and the closed visor and check the seal all the way round as it can account for some of the wind noise you get.

THe Arai was a doddle to fix (as you adjust with the visor in place) but my Shoei and AGV meant taking the visor off then guessing where to move the adjuster and retrying the visor. I got both the Shoei and Arai to seal perfectly but my AGV Stealth wont seal either end, always wondered why it was the noisiest helmet Ive tried.

I have the same as dodger but in black, but i find the wind noise is quite high. I have an agv shaped head though so i thought it was my only option. After i'd bought it i saw a ad for a scorpion with the cheek system and i wish i could have seen/tryed one on as i had to go for a small agv as they have stopped making the MS size.

EDIT: this is not spam i'm just unable to phrase it better and thus it looks so.

I went to a few shops i know today after work.

Went to J and S, tried a few on. I felt the Shark S800 was a brilliant fit.

Didn't get it as they only had the Union jack one in, I like this one.

Then off i trott to hein gericke. And i try a few on. Some of the more expencive ones, and not so expencive. Felt a big diffrence in quality of materials. But nothing compared to the shark. And its £200 cheaper than the others.

While leaving. I saw the sale section.

Had a look and i saw a nice jacket.

£100 off. So i got that and I also got a tank bag.

Off to J&S tomorrow some time to get the helmet ordered.
