 |
|
Was out on a wee rideout with Wee Al B ( who just joined BCF) and we got pulled by the cops. Didn't know what for at first but it turned out to be the illegal plate.
That'll be 30 pounds please. Well at least they didn't say anything about the race can or back visor I suppose.
I was in the bike shop yesterday as well to get a new (Legal) plate, When the guy said it would be about 45 minutes and I though Meh, I'll get it later. Good decision that. ____________________ Past >>>> Honda NSR 125 >>>> Suzuki GSXR 600 K1 >>>> Suzuki GSXR 600 K4 >>>>Kawasaki Z1000 DAF >>>>Suzuki RMZ 250 >>>> Current >>>> KTM Superduke R 1290 >>>> |

Don't forget to keep your "legal" plate clean as I was pulled for mine being covered in loads of mud
Didn't get a fine though thank god, the officer must have been having a good day |

They two cops were actually alright to be fair, had a laugh and a joke with us. My own fault really cause I knew the plate was illegal and should have changed it sooner. ____________________ Past >>>> Honda NSR 125 >>>> Suzuki GSXR 600 K1 >>>> Suzuki GSXR 600 K4 >>>>Kawasaki Z1000 DAF >>>>Suzuki RMZ 250 >>>> Current >>>> KTM Superduke R 1290 >>>> |

Yeah I know. In my defence it was there when I bought the bike. ____________________ Past >>>> Honda NSR 125 >>>> Suzuki GSXR 600 K1 >>>> Suzuki GSXR 600 K4 >>>>Kawasaki Z1000 DAF >>>>Suzuki RMZ 250 >>>> Current >>>> KTM Superduke R 1290 >>>> |

I can't stand the full size number plates, I think they look rediculous on the back of some types of bikes. However, I do not like to take the p1ss with one of these stupidly small ones. So to compramise, I cut the edges down on my road legal one, so the letters and spacing between the letters are correct, but the edges of the plate and a 1/4" off the top and bottom and about 1" off the sides.
Makes it a little less like dragging a plank of wood around behind you.

I just bought a 2x7inch plate , looks good but i'm keeping my legal one inside my jacket, so if i get porked i can try and blag my way out buy telling him i'd just bought this legal one from halfords and will fit it as soon as i get home .
Sorry to hear about your bad luck mate, but don't give up, the system is beatable. ____________________ Chase my Witch up, Catch my Snitch up.

Surely the 'cool factor' is somewhat counteracted by the large square shape pushing through your jacket and the plate clattering to the ground when you get off your bike? |

Just for the record. I don't actually like small plates myself. I would never have put it on the bike if I had had a standard one there when I got the bike. I was intending to replace it with a legal one. ____________________ Past >>>> Honda NSR 125 >>>> Suzuki GSXR 600 K1 >>>> Suzuki GSXR 600 K4 >>>>Kawasaki Z1000 DAF >>>>Suzuki RMZ 250 >>>> Current >>>> KTM Superduke R 1290 >>>> |

Small plates do improve the looks of most bikes though Especially if said bike has an undertray etc fitted. I had a 2x9 on the NSR and only ever got moaned at by plod.

Will the police not notice that your new Halfords plate already has the holes drilled in it? Either use the legal plate, or use the small one and accept what happens what you eventually get caught as it will happen eventually. And when they pull you over they'll also then probably notice your nice race can and anything else on there which is not 100% legal so you're playing a game with them by annoying them. It might save time just to put a sign on the back of your jacket saying "Please pull me over, I'm not 100% legal". |
