Start with charging the battery, then look in the manual for the location of the starter relay and test that.

its a good idea to charge a new battery i'd have thought, as for testing the relay, it should say in the haynes manual how to test it, it might be under started relay or started solenoid.

if all your are getting is a click from a little black box. then...
the little black box is your CDI. and if thats all that is happening. you starter motor is broken, time for a new one, what moped do you have?

edit- the started motor may have disconnected or some crap. be worth taking starter motor out, putting it back in and seeing if that works. if not. got a friend with a moped or anything? try there motor in your ped, see if it works, if it does.. then buy a new starter motor Thumbs Up

thanks, leigh.

The black box is the starter relay. There should be 2 thick wires coming from it, one from the battery positive and one to the starter motor, check that these are tight. Try tapping the starter motor with a bit of wood while holding the button and see if anything happens, it may just be stuck.
You can test the motor by joining the two thick wires contacts together with a screw driver. This bypasses the relay and the button. Be carefull though, there will be some sparks and don't do it for long.

Try this first before buying a new starter motor. If it works, your relay may be broken.

Just because the starter motor isn't working, there's no need to splash out on a new one, it might just need the brushes cleaning or replacing. Wink

if its been sat for 3 years it could probably do with a good clean Shocked
