 |
|
October 2007, I took my wife to London to stay over and see a show as a suprise treat for her on our anniversary. During our time there we went round Covent Garden markets and saw one particular jewellery stall that was selling a rather unique ring she loved. I couldn't afford it on top of everything else and so took a card from the jeweller with his details and the details of the ring. Since then I've lost the card!
Forward on to this year (our 10th anniversary) and she's mentioning this ring again. I would love to be able to buy it but have no idea how to go about this! I'm sure Covent Garden has plenty of jewellery stands and I don't even know if they move around a lot or are permamently in the same place or even if they are there ever day! I can picture the place and vaguely remember it had some sort of 1st floor gallery with seating and several food outlets around one side.
Any ideas what I should do!? (P.S I live in Sheffield)!
Things I've thought of so far....
1) Give up and find something else!
2) Ride down there look round and come back in a day but then chances of me actually finding the stall let alone the right ring are very remote - plus I don't even know if I have to pay congestion charges/where to park etc, etc...
3) Get a train down there and find somewhere very cheap to stop over so I can spend a bit longer looking - costly though. ____________________ Previous: Aprilia Habana Retro 50cc (beauty), Yamaha SR125 (fell apart), Honda XR125 (nippy little commuter), Honda SLR650 (Geewhizz), Yamaha Diversion 900S (Smoooooth) written off courtesy of a stupid escaped horse.

A guick google and there's covent garden life.com - maybe the names ring a bell?
Other than that I would hope somebody on here has some local knowledge to help.

Thanks for the link Map, I'll have to do some more research and see if there are any pic's of the market. I doubt Google Street view will have anything as the market is undercover but I'll take a peek anyway.
The ring was a design of 2 seperate single bands, one yellow gold and one white gold. These fitted together as if they interlocked, and then formed one ring. They weren't just plain bands as the interlocking part formed the detail of the ring on the top of the finger. So effectively this was 3 rings in one, 2 singles could be worn seperately or the whole thing together as one.
Now it was 3 years ago so my memory of the ring might not be perfect, however I think I'm pretty close! It's also a very unusual design as I haven't come across one like this since - and I've been looking! Getting a similar one made is just too expensive... ____________________ Previous: Aprilia Habana Retro 50cc (beauty), Yamaha SR125 (fell apart), Honda XR125 (nippy little commuter), Honda SLR650 (Geewhizz), Yamaha Diversion 900S (Smoooooth) written off courtesy of a stupid escaped horse.

Have you tried, where have you tried, have you tried The Jewellery Quarter in Birmingham ( either visiting or webites/phone calls )... |
Do you know something about rings and them being made NSR-AD!? You seem to be probing rather deeply about this...
I've tried several local jewellers who make their own jewellery including local craft heritage sites. However most of them can't design something like this and the one's who might were going to charge £400 upwards...
I'm currently on the official 'at risk' list of redundancy at my work in the next 3 months so I don't really want to pay huge amounts for this.
Also, why would I approach places in Birmingham if I live in Sheffield!? I don't really want to be travelling back and forth unnecesarily? ____________________ Previous: Aprilia Habana Retro 50cc (beauty), Yamaha SR125 (fell apart), Honda XR125 (nippy little commuter), Honda SLR650 (Geewhizz), Yamaha Diversion 900S (Smoooooth) written off courtesy of a stupid escaped horse.

Lol, well I appreciate you asking the questions! I thought for a minute you might actually make this stuff yourself .
So what is 'Birminghams Jewellery Quarter' exactly, I'm assuming it's a whole host of jewellers stalls/shops in 1 large area or part of Birmingham? It's just I've never heard of it before...
Thanks for the thought of popping over to take pic's for me too, shame your bike is out of action! Anything serious?
The missus was rather attached to this ring, I guess I'm gonna be more than lucky if I ever manage to find it again!! ____________________ Previous: Aprilia Habana Retro 50cc (beauty), Yamaha SR125 (fell apart), Honda XR125 (nippy little commuter), Honda SLR650 (Geewhizz), Yamaha Diversion 900S (Smoooooth) written off courtesy of a stupid escaped horse.

Yep, it's just that, it's a part of Birmingham that's just jewellery shops, a few streets worth, you can lose a fair few hours round there tbh...

Just do what my Uncle did when his misses asked for a ring for Christmas. He bought her a bell ____________________ Well, you know what they say. If you want to save the world, you have to push a few old ladies down the stairs.
