TS125 or RM125??

Me and a mate are doing up his bro's old 125, it's an early 90s suzuki in yellow, but I'm not sure if it's a TS125 or an RM125.

So what's the difference?

Well ours has lights and L Plates on it, so that'd be the TS.

There are several different models of TS, so you will probably need to find out which one it is. Probably a TS125R or a TS125ER.

it's a 1986, I now know that much, don't know why I didn't check the plate before

I also went on bitzforbikes and when it comes to picking the year there are 3 variations for 1986, as follows:

ERZ (F/Floater) 82-86
N (F/Floater) 84-86
XUF/XUG/XUJ 86-90

I am thoroughly confused as to what any of these mean, or if they're of any relevance at all, I only need a brake light and an exhaust for now, will that make any difference?

Not sure of any differences. Full Floater is probably just referring to versions fitted with monoshock suspension (the makers were into plastering slogans about new features like that on bikes back then).

I would suspect the rear brake light will be pretty generic but not so sure on the front one. Exhaust will almost certainly make a difference, but suspect you will struggle to find one for reasonable money anyway.

Might be worth taking the chassis number to a local friendly Suzuki dealer and see if they can id the bike from that (might also list it in a Haynes if you are lucky).

Got the frame number down and going to get down to the dealers tomorrow, the only exhaust I can find for any kind of '86 TS125 at all is made by a comapny called Big One, and it's £93.99

The TS is a good bike- bit rough in the fields but as a road bike he's good

For spare parts- ebay is a good place I find. Have a look on google images, you might come across a few pictures of the same year bike- if its similar then you have worked out the model

To be honest I think you will struggle for any exhaust that fits. Not sure Suzuki would still even have a new exhaust. As such I think you will probably have to take what is available. £100 isn't too bad (although no idea what the finish is like on them).

DEP also list pipes for some TS125 models.

I might be wrong but Big One expansion chambers are or are very similar to what was the Fresco system, I have used them on a KMX and found them to be as good as, If not better than Dep system.

btw, the price is quite good, mine was £120.
