Yay, another black drizzle owner (not suggesting your black by the way lol)
You will REALLY REALLY miss the pure power of a sports and the lack of top speed, but the way it delivers the power compared to an il4 is interesting
Can't make out what tyres its running (don't look like stock d208's ) but there are quite a few different tyres to choose from depending on what your looking for.
Get rid of the standard exhaust and get an MRD/SSW system (or an FMF powerbomb header), FCR MX carb, hotcams (inlet and outlet) and e base gasket....right beast then Oh you could always big bore + stroke it so its running 470cc
One thing i'd reccomend though, pull off the standard axle sliders, remove the mounting for them and get some m5 threaded bar 305mm long for the rear and 273mm (iirc) for the front and mount them that way. The standard mounting is useless, they just pop/pull off if you low side ____________________ It's all fun and games until someone gets hurt, then it's bloody hilarious!!! |

Love them. Get rid of the standard exhaust, one near me has an Akra and my god the noise alone is enough to give me wood, never mind when it sits next to me at the lights and sets off and then clutches it up. PluuuuuuuuuurPPPPPPPPORRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRPPPPPPP!!!! Or something like that ____________________ wizzzard wrote: Imagine God just stopping by, tidying your front room up and then quietly letting himself out again. Thats the system mine has (well, mine is the older 'model' that looks slightly different). Gone up in price though, mine was fitted a few weeks before i bought the bike, had the receipt for around £480.
They are STUPIDLY loud, been pulled a few times by the plod (not for the pipe) and only one has mentioned it is illegal but not given me a rectification notice/and or a fine.

Thanks chaps.
Woke up this morning with a hell of a hangover after last night's lock in, logged onto my computer to see a DRZ400 desktop....took me a second to remember I'd actually bought another bike yesterday.
Definitely something to look forward to for next weekend, hopefully the week at work won't drag on for too long...
Thanks for the links Matt - I heard on 125sportsbikes that you had a DRZ too. I do plan on junking the miss-matched tyres (currently the OE Dunslip on the front and a BT45 on the rear) - I did knock the price down in accordance to the needed new rubber. Thinking either Roadsmarts or Diablos - I want to still use the bike for commuting when in the mood.
Definitely will be looking into a new exhaust too - need to unleash a few pops and barks, but needs a removable baffle for early morning warm ups. |

Those mirrors are fugly change them and get a nice (loud) exhaust. ____________________ Well, you know what they say. If you want to save the world, you have to push a few old ladies down the stairs.

They arent too great in the dry and god awful in the wet/cold.
Avon Azaro's are good for a bit of light green laning and offer much better grip and feel than the standard dunlops on road as well! |
From what all the yanks say on ThumperTalk, the (Avon?) Distazias (or something daft like that) are the best compromise for some on and some 'offroad' riding.
Or just get some goldspeed SM tyres for total stupidity [/quote
I disagree. I've had the maxiss goldspeeds, continental contiforce and the dunlop sportmax RR. Dunlops win hands down both on drz and te610

If you remove the pillion pegs, you will need to get a bracket to go in place of the offside one as the exhaust bolts to the peg hanger on that side. Zeta make a nice billet one in funky colours.
I have the R&G tailtidy and it looks MUCH better than the standard rear light/fender unit, hides nicely just under the rear mudguard thingy me bob. Another option is the 'edge' tail light, not sure where you can get it from int he UK but the thumpertalk store seems to be the best price (infact, they seem to be the best price on all the DRZ goodies)
www.motostrano.com (something like that) is good for some SM porn
Regarding the exhaust - Not sure what to reccomend if you need a baffle/removable one. Mine doesn't even have the option of fitting one. What you could do is get a stupid exhaust (MRD/SSW one is the best for performance) and get a 'Q-Core' (quiet core, its like a universal baffle).
I removed my mirrors and indicators (well i fitted mini indi's when i got the R&G tail tidy, one of them fell off because they were cheap ones and i just removed all of them...rarely use them anyway.
As for the micky mouse ears, you will find above 75/80ish you will get a mad headshake. When i took my mirrors off - voila...no headshake anymore.
I've only ever run Dunlop Mutants (dunflop's SM tyre by the looks of things), Dragon Supercorsa's (Sc1 fr, sc2 rear) and the goldspeed pre-cut slicks.
To be quite honest with you, i'll be going for supercorsa's (the diablo's though) next time, they lasted 600 miles instead of the 300ish i have got out of the goldspeed . Although the turn in from the 80 profile goldspeed front is amazing, counter steer like fuck and you'll be doing a u-turn on a 5 pence coin ____________________ It's all fun and games until someone gets hurt, then it's bloody hilarious!!! |
