i wanted a bike but because im not the tallest of heaviest person i wanted something light so went for a mito, light wieght, not too big. and a learning curve for 2 strokes as i been into cars and 4stroke engines so far.

so my mate who i hate and think is an arsehole (chris) told me about these. may be from someone on here. i got 2 partially striped bikes. h and m reg i believe. i got 3 engines, 2 6 speed boxes and 1 7speed. 2 frames, 3 seat frames, and loads of other bits.

i striped down one engine to start getting stuck in and have a good condition (although i havent properly checked it over) 7 speed box, needs new crank bearings and piston and barrel. but thats looking good so far. yesterday i striped down 1 of the bikes to give it a proper clean up and see what need to be replaced and i was quite pleased to see that although i have taken the whole thing to pieces there isnt really that much. as long as i keep the nuts and bolts with the right peices it should all be gravy

heres some pictures. (if i can work out how to upload)

also on the other frame is some gold USD forks, not sure what brand. what looks like a 'better' swing arm. carbon fibre front gaurd, and an arrow expansion chanber. think its arrow or the other one. either way, its better.

my plan is to make this now stripped down one, into a good useable bike then get a licence and get some experience on it. meanwhile building up the other bike with the better parts and blueprint the engine with the better exhaust and better carb. but thats a future project as i dont have a bike licence yet.

as for bodywork, im gonna keep the chipped flaking crap condition tank and panels and use them. as im not bothered about looks at the minute. i just want the experience before spending more money on good condition bodywork. thats for the next bike.

the one with gold USD forks is a MK2, the one with the normal forks is a MK1.

the 6 speed engine will be from an evo 2, the 7 speeds from either the MK1, 2 or evo 1

the plan is to build this one up to standard for some experience. and meanwhile use the good parts on the other frame, blueprinted engine, and painted. that'll be the 'good' bike. this first one will be the practice bike

and i found out. its definately been dropped Thumbs Down

gearbox casing is cranked around the gear selector rod, the front brake lever is bent. think thats all the giveaways i noticed.

oh well. think ill get the jet wash out saturday and clean it all up.

Make sure the sub frame isn't so rusted that it won't pass a MoT, that would be really silly. I mean spending all that money on rebuilding and engine, only for the chassis to be too rusty for an MoT, only a moron would do that. Laughing

Yeah id have done a full inspection myself, if you are considering doing the 2nd bike as your main bike i wouldnt spend too much unless u know its going to pass an MOT Wink especially if you have a lock up where you could store said rust piece

The funny thing, is I paid far less keeping that GS running than you paid for that engine rebuild and at least it saw the road for a few thousand miles.

What mug, pays to rebuild an escort engine, should have gone straight to the scrappy.

general bit of stripping down today and started to clean up some parts.

i was using a bench grinder with a wire brush wheel but its possibly the weakest motor iv ever seen. i could stop it turning with my hand. definately going in the bin i think.

anyways, heres the first parts cleaned up (with the shit bench grinders help)

its much better than it was, still and bit of discolouring in certain places but i think that'll do.

i been cleaning up some more if it today and partially stripped down the engine.

few questions for you peoples.

the bottom piston ring is knackered and looked as though it were melted in at one point. but the piston looks ok, very slight score on that side and also in the barrel, looks very good apart from one very slight mark. i wouldnt think it would affect it really but you can see the pictures and give me some advice. if it'll save a £200 barrel its all good.

also i found a washer inside the casing and have no idea where its from??

to my annoyance i found out you can only upload 10 pictures at a time. grrrr

heres a few more

so what do you think of the piston? condition looks good apart from the score where the ring had siezed but its not exactly worn, well i wouldnt think anyway. still had loads of compression before removing anything.

also that washer?? no idea whats its from but i dont know if this engine had been stripped before and left in there by mistake.

Don't know about the rest but i wouldn't worry about the deep scratches on your frame etc.
They don't look good, but it shouldn't effect the strength, alloy is just so soft!

If you want it smartening up it depends how deep it is, small scratches can be dressed out, anything bigger you'll need some sort of filling compound.
