Parking bays with attachment points?

Parking my scooter in a bay (Colmore Row, Birmingham) this weekend, it struck me that having something to attach the chain to would be sensible. All bicycle parking bays have something, and I understand that some private bays (the Mailbox) have a chain. Have you ever seen public bays with some form of ground anchor/bar?

I'm thinking of a bike getting lifted into a van with too bits of scaffold through the wheels, which I've heard of happening. Is it just very rare/not worth worrying about?

Loads of bike bays have metal bars....

But they all tend to be at the back. So all you can chain is the rear wheel.
Unless you park your bike sideways.... And annoy the hell out of everyone else as they cannot park....

Then again they could chain their bike to yours and leave you stuck till they get back

Outside St Georges hospital in tooting theres ground anchors that you pull out of the ground. (Near the cerb)

Lock your back wheel up to that.

When you put it back you just push it downwards. It gets covered by a flap.

We have ground anchors that fold into the floor, you can enter the bike bay either way too so you can chain it to whatever wheel.

well we have 2 M/C parking areas in our town centre, in the centre of town, which is genius. Cameras around and they supply the ground anchors, bring your own chain n that, but enough space for about 40 bikes in each place..
If im honest i dont use them, i just park where im going..say maplins, i use the high street as my parking spot..

Gunwarf Quays in Portsmouth is amazing for bike parking. It has a lock built into the space (£1 refundable deposit) a helmet locker (20p refundable deposit) It is free to park and on the way out there is a box with visor wipes in.

I bet the designed was a biker.

I very rarely take a chain with me, I've got a cable lock (and a disproportionately sized padlock) attached to the bike for locking up my bag and lid. Disk lock is decent as a theft deterrent, just need to make a bracket or something to clip it when I'm not using it (under seat isn't convenient).
