 |
|
i bought a pan european a few weeks back for £400 as a project and have it to a stage where im considering getting it m.o.t'd and have a couple of questions for anyone in the know.
1. do i need mirror(s)
2. does the steering lock have to work
3. does it matter if the centre stand is bent to the point where it wont work(sidestand is fine).
4.does the speedo have to work? and will they check it?
these thing's will be sorted eventually but i just want to get it on the road as my cbr is in need of a major service and need backup transport for a week or so while i sort the cbr out. ____________________ 04 NSR 125(sold) ---- 03 CBR 600rr(sold) ----90 pan euro ST1100 ' ' ----02 CG 125

just a thought. when i get the m.o.t sorted i was planning on taxing it straight away. The bike is in my dad's name as he stumped up the cash for the initial purchase of the bike and i am paying for all the part's and spending the time sorting it out, so it's kinda a shared bike if you know what i mean.
Thing is, my dad's not passed his test yet so wont be insured to ride it. I am insured to ride any bike with the owners consent but is this enough to tax the bike or do i need to do a multibike policy thing? ____________________ 04 NSR 125(sold) ---- 03 CBR 600rr(sold) ----90 pan euro ST1100 ' ' ----02 CG 125

im pretty sure the bike has to have its own insurance policy, for your any bike thing to take effect. so unless someone is insured on it, you still cant ride it. if that makes sence?
im not 100% on that, but if so id go for the multibike option |

fuksake, i hate rules. with the 6rr already insured is this likely to cost more to add the pan or stay the same as the pan is less risk and riding time will be shared between the 2
6rr=group 15
pan euro= group 13 ____________________ 04 NSR 125(sold) ---- 03 CBR 600rr(sold) ----90 pan euro ST1100 ' ' ----02 CG 125

just read through my current policy and here's what is say's regarding other bikes on the 'certificate of motor insurance'
"the policyholder may also drive a motorcycle not belonging to him/her and not hired to him/her under a hire purchase or leasing agreement, as long as the policyholder has the owner's permission to drive it."
now i would have thought if i take this to the post office as proof it's pretty black and white and should be accepted, but i have a funny feeling there's a reason i cant ____________________ 04 NSR 125(sold) ---- 03 CBR 600rr(sold) ----90 pan euro ST1100 ' ' ----02 CG 125

re: the insurance thing, phone your insurance company and check whether they have a second bike policy. I phoned when I bought my XT to ask about adding it onto my CBR policy and was pleasantly surprised to be told it was cost me precisely nothing to add it on ____________________ ZX6R + CBR600RR |
