In all fairness the next major overhaul for the R6 would probabably be for 2010 anyway. The bikes tend to run in 2/4 year development cycles. Alternating minor - major.

Not an exact science granted, but seems to be the pattern most are following now.

Well, all theyve done to the 2010 R6, is slightly alter the looks, fit a crap looking exhaust, done a remap and changed a few little bits in the intake to get a bit more mid range!

I loved my 2006 R6, but the lack of midrange was a bit annoying, you had to be on the ball coming out of corners or else it wouldn't go anywhere! Fun when you get it right though

erm from what Ive read someone from one of the dealers were at the launch of the new R1 big bang motor.

when the guy asked the technical director of the r1 about the new r6 and whether it would have the big bang motor the director immediately said NO but by then his colleague was smiling and nodding his head to say yes.


we may well see the first ever big bang 600 and the way Yamaha are domintating the racing and market at the moment i could see this being true.

then hopefully Ill be able to buy a 06 r6 for nice money.

I really like it in white, but that exhaust has got to go!

Changes include:
Revised YCC-I (Yamaha's Chip Controlled Intake) funnels
Revised air box.
Revised "Mid Ship" 4-into-2-into-1 exhaust system
Revised ECU mapping

The front end looks slightly different, with a longer exhaust, not sure why they've done that!

Looks like it's going to be a boring year for new bikes!

Yamaha are holding out for another year with the R6 it seems, just small changes again.

And a new paintscheme for the R1...
