Drivers not looking -same old, same old

On the way to work this morning, a car pulled over and stopped at the left of the road. It then immediately proceeded to turn right in front of me to park in a drive-way on the right -No indicators for either manoeuvre. Presumably no observations either.

I was going slowly as I'd seen them pull up on the left, but I was still forced to stop fairly sharply.

I gave a beep on the horn and the 2 women in the car who had been chatting away started looking all around wondering where the beep had come from.

Why won't people make fookin' observations before moving???? Driving a car should require some attention

But why should the car drivers do this when they know that the sensible bikers do it for them? There should be a law to say you can't have a car until you've spent at least 18months on a bike of some kind, would make alot more people more aware of the roads if they new that for the time they spent on a bike there is a higher possibility of becoming roadkill.[/b]

I swear to god, some woman pulled out of a side street on me the other day reading a fucking book. She was looking down into it and I watched her pull out and drive straight across the road into another side street.

Pisses me off, not only dangerous to other people, especially bikes, it's dangerous to themselves.

I'd like to think that I was quite observant: I had seen them stop, proceeded more slowly and managed to stop safely, but all the observation in the world wouldn't have alerted me to them doing that un-announced right turn. Had it been in a different location I (or another biker) might have ended up flying over the bonnet.

Driving is done far too casually by too many people. There is now probably too much of a dis-connect between driving and perceived danger.

Ha I came across two compelete idiots, last night on the way home from work. Single dual carriageway (A57 in Cadishead for those that know the area) travelling a tad over 60 and still accelerating ( I had a poker game to get to lol) approach a T junction with a car sat in the filter box waiting to turn right across the carriageway and another waiting in the side road to turn left to enter the carriageway and go the same direction as me.

I just knew knobby in the filter box was going to pull out on me so start to roll off the throttle, he sits there for a few seconds wasting time and letting the space between us shortern before deciding to pull out across my path into the side road, so anchors on, down gear miss him by all of 2 metres tops only to see knobhead number 2 who was waiting to enter the carriageway has decided to pull out and onto it!!! Had to swerve and filter past the car narrowly missing the traffic island.

So yeah, why do people sit here contemplating their death inducing manouvere before pulling it? Do they sit there imagining in complex detail how I will look as I fly over the bonnet?

Don't even get me started, the bloody amount of times people have pulled out on me on roundabouts! Put it this way, the horn on my scooter was well used Now that I've got a bike maybe they're hear me coming, but I doubt it. Trust no one on the roads. I've never really come into contact with bikers when I'm in my car, but one time this absolute wanker was just over taking every fucker in sight and somehow managed to over take a bus as it was exiting a roundabout. I was very sure I was about to witness a death that day (random rant over )

I pulled out on a bike when I was in my car.

To be fair to myself, he was in the blind spot behind a single car that was indicating to turn into my side road.

It happens.


However, I do like it when you beep your horn and the driver does the whole "what the hell is that noise?"

Yeah I have had quite a few close shaves on a bike already, I think being on a 125 however gives me a lot more time to think about what's about to happen, although when someone cuts you up by deciding to do a U-Turn into an empty road and me being the only one there with my light on there is not too much you can do but clench your bum cheeks and hope for the best.

I have almost killed a biker while driving once too, but to be fair I did all observations to overtake a slow moving car then went to pull out and a biker smacked my wing mirror as he was hurtling past at god knows what speed. I was going about 50mph on a 60mph road at the time with indicators on, and he absolutely bombed past. Must have hit over 100mph to have eaten that distance so fast as it was just as I came into the 60 zone that I was about to overtake.

I had one last night, outside lane of the M27, drifting all over the shop and holding everyone up by doing about 60 when both the inside lane and the first overtaking lane were clear (I call it that because then maybe people I know would understand that it is ONLY FOR OVERTAKING).

When he finally got the hint from loads of flashes from behind, it turned out that he was shuffling a pcak of cards. I kid you not, maybe he was going to the same poker game as the person above, I don't know but what a tool! He was in the car on his own too, maybe he was about to set out patience on the dash

I just had one today, I was going to the shops half a mile away when someone reversed back in to the main road past a row of parked cars and right in to my path. There was absolutely no WAY they would have been able to see traffic in either direction so it looks like they just went for it, although it was slow enough.

Now the stupid part is that the sum total of my protective gear today was my..... helmet my rather thin tshirt would probably have done nothing for me, but it's such a nice day

Luckily I was only going 20MPH so I swerved and managed to go on my way on the tiny bit of my lane left that wasn't taken up by this reversing idiot.

Ironically what I learned from this is that I always ride much more safely and slowly around town while wearing a lack of protective clothing, ultimately ending up in far less situations where I would need my gear anyway.

My bike lights are wicked they work on a frequency of light only I can see which would explain why the TOTAL T%@T who last night did not only pull out of a side street without looking causing me to slam on the anchors, then decided that the 3 lane roundabout on the A50 (Raynesway in Derbyshire) wasnt big enough to get his van round without trying to give me a whole 2.5 feet in which to get round between the side of his van and the roundabout much to my annoyance and sign language.
Then this gutless wonder of a PLEB decided to pull into my lane once more signal to turn right but then signalling right shot to the left towards Alvaston / Allenton. would like to say the rest of my journey was uneventful thankfully.
On a side note...

Had one earlier, on the way to Streetbike for a burger and a cuppa, just coming round a corner and some twat in a silver peugeot pulls straight out from the kerb without looking right into my path, swerved round said twat and carried on my way, got off the bike at Streetbike and had to collect myself as it occured to me that I'd have bounced down the side of it and possibly gone through a shop window opposite, luckily I was only doing about 15mph as just after the corner this happened on there's a little island so you have to start braking anyway...

I had to perform an emergency stop on a roundabout yesterday because this dumb arse could not drive around it correctly, and as it was - he ended up turning right (without indicating), and then proceeded to drive erratically down the road too...but there was no way I could overtake.

to be fair the first person to ever try knocking me off was my missus drives a silverish peugeot, skidded in quickly behind me forcing me to pull out at a roundabout without getting a good look to see what was coming. (I know it was an accident as the road was pretty slippery that night and i had slightly skidded just before her on the same patch of road) didn't tell her that and got plenty of satisfaction from making her feel as guilty as hell about it lol,
