Speeding/Court

Hi guys, as some of you remember I got caught speeding at an average of 140mph a while back.

Had court this morning and for anyone who's interested in the original thread / outcome I got 2 months ban and £300 fine.

Considering the speed I find that a healthy outcome and was expecting worse.

EDIT: It should be noted original penalty was 3 months ban, but they considered my location in relation to my work place, previously clean record and early guilty plea and reduced it to 2.

Also I may have to re-apply for my license since it will be held for over 56 days. However the court said I should contact them first as they may still hold it for a few days before sending it to the dvla where I would then need a re-application. Fingers cross.

Did they slap a £15 "Victim Support Fine" on you? They did that on me when I was in court last month getting banned for totting up. I was more pissed about paying the £15 than the £200 fine they gave me.

yea you'l have to apply for your licence about 3 weeks before the ban is up, costs £65. However, if your coming off a ban due to drink driving it costs £110..wierd.

Yea if you come across humble, nervous and apologetic in court you can get off suprisingly lightly, even on your second court appearance. I was told that the third road offence is when they come down hard.

Disqualifications affect your insurance premium in a similar way to points as well.

Congrats on avoidin the chokey.

I got a one month disqualification and £175 and the bollox victim surcharge, for 66 in a 40 so i reckon thats a result.

As stinkwheel says there, when i went to court i was expecting 6 points and a fine. which would have left me on 9 for the next 3-4 years. Would have had to be constantly shitting myself on the road. As it happened i had a shitty month without the bike but am now glad of the ban over points.
