Passed my mod1 yesterday on my 2nd attempt, 1st attempt i hit 49kph on the speed trap for the maneuvre when i needed 50 but got it all sorted on the 2nd run.
Went online yesterday and booked a cancellation for today which i failed. Now i failed not because i cant ride - i was getting upto speed fine, shoulder checks were there and riding position was good, but ive been told i need to be looking further ahead into the distance to see things that could unfold. I only had one close encounter when an old hag didnt look and pulled out beside me nearly causing serious damage. Iv booked my next test, but how could i look ahead more to see what could unfold? Im pretty aware as it is really.
Also what is the proper procedure for checking brake lights on your own and checking oil? Im not stupid but i just like to know how to phrase it better.
any reply would be mint as im a good rider and need to pass before join the RAF in oct.

Well done for passing your module one yesterday. Think positivly, you have passed the harder one (in many people's opinions lol)
It can be difficult to look ahead, especially through the examiners eyes- but did you notice the driver? Or did she just appear? If she appeared then, without meaning it personally/in a wrong way, you need to pay more attention to something that might turn into a hazard- think back to your hazard perception on your theory- instead of clicking the mouse, you need to prepare to slow down or change lane etc
Best to check the oil when its cold and if the bikes got a dip stick then take it out, wipe it off, put it back in and check its between the maximum and minimum, and obviously put it back.
For checking brake lights, its best to back it up to a wall, put the brake on and then turn around to see if the wall lights up.
Hope this little bit helps- Im sure others will be able to help far more!
Best of luck for your module 2 next time, and good luck with joining the RAF |

Your instructor should teach you to do a scan procedure, i was shown
Far middle close, close middle far, always scanning whats happening upfront and working back incase anything had changed since my last look. If on the test and moving past stationary cars do a mirror and livesaver and move right out keeping in your lane to minimize the chance of them hitting you or becoming a risk.
To check the oil for a test,
Warm the bike for 10 mins cool the bike for 10 mins, make sure the bike is held upright if dipstick is fitted remove check between min and max marks, reinsert and top up as nessasary.
To check brake light is working for a test,
ignition on, engine if needed on some bikes, then put the steering full lock towards the sidestand way, now making sure your standing on the right hand side of the bike, one hand behind the light lense, first use the front brake confirming its working by saying it, then using the rear brake as well.
I bet any money you forgot to use both brakes didnt you? ____________________ Past: '05 Peugeot XPS '99 Aprillia RS125 '94 FZR600R
