hi, my gf's cg125 has been sat doing nothing for 2 weeks, so i went to take it out for a wee spin, but didnt want to start, on either the electric start (was ticking) or the kick start

sooo, i took the battery out and charged it, was abit flat tbh, and cleaned the wires out and lubed them up etc, but it back in and it fired up (didnt take it out for spin though, just started it up and then turned it off)

now however, it doesnt start all the time with electric start, but will do with kick start most of the times, but even with the choke on, as soon i let go of the throttle it cuts out, everytime, even after revving it now and then to keep the revs high and making sure its warmed up

bit confused, im going to look at the spark plug once i have finished this, hopefully thats clogged up (i realised she had been riding the bike with choke on....i know!!lol) but tbh, cant really tell when the choke is on or off Sad barely any difference in revs

any idea guys??
many thanks

couldnt get spark plug out (out of all the tools i have, i dont have deep socket set...great!lol)
but i took the relay out and noticed some corrosion, so cleaned that out and used some lub on that for now, bike wouldnt start on electric start, but was fine with kick start, and i presume with the choke on it stayed idle for a few mins without me reving etc
i then went on to take the choke off, went onto the 1st setting...alll seemed fine, then as i turned it off, the engine stopped Sad

i did then use the electric start, and that worked fine, started up (with choke back on) so it seems that if the bike has been running the electric start might work better

when pressing the elec start it still clicks (when its not working) so its not turning over, would spark plug effect this??

hope i can ge this sorted, the missus is buggin me, was meant to go out around angelesy on our bikes, but she had to come on mine...so had to stick to some limits Smile

thanks

From what you've said with the starter motor not always turning over the engine, I would guess the battery is still a problem?

Wouldn't harm to look at the spark plug, and at the carb?. Does the bike start Does it bump start / hill start ok?

ms51ves3: why does it need 500 miles? Are you teaching it how to be a piston?

Is the tick over speed (you can adjust this) and the carb ok? it still sounds like the battery is being worn down but I really don't know, hopefully someone else here will have more ideas.
