I think it'll be like China(?) where you can't access anything outside your own country perhaps?.

Here's a bit of web cencorship for you.

Find a picture of adolf hitler on photobucket.

Upload one and see how long it stays there for.

It can and never will be fully sensored, the good thing about the internet is that there's a way around almost everything.

Mainstream sensoring has already started, music copyrights etc it's all big business. But just look at torrents and some of the less known p2p clients, you just can't sensor it all. It's far too established already.

That's my opinion on the matter anyway! Laughing

Obviously censorship appears everywhere, but whether or not our government will CONTROL our access the way it is controlled in China and Iran is another story.
In these countries the media is basically a branch of the goverment, whereas over here we have a lot of free media.
I'm sure any minute after posting this, someone with a tinfoil hat will enter this thread and inform me that ALL media is CONTROLLED by THE MAN, and I'm a blind sheep for thinking otherwise. Fair enough. Pre-emptively, I think you're a spooked out whackjob with nothing else to whittle away time with than conspiracy theories.

Censorship is everywhere and at more levels than you might expect.
For instance... even on BCF... this is getting 'censored' into the tin-foil hat section Wink.

True freedom is an illusion that some choose to believe is possible and dream up all sorts of complex conspiracies to try to explain why they don't have it.

The IWF with the help of our ISPs are censoring us right now.

A few of the blocked sites are mentioned here.

The censorship attemps which has been going on in Auz is quite astonishing. Almost as surprising as their ban on many a computer game. I hope such an idea doesn't catch on here, not that it matters much for me personally, either i couldn't care for the content they are blocking or download any game which they deem too violent for my tiny mind to handle.

It's already happening, not so much in the UK but in other countries it's serious. China is of course the best example of what it could end up like. Imagine if you were Chinese and came on here saying Jap bikes rule and Chinese ones are shit? You'd be beheaded the next day.

That's outrageous. Laughing
Chinese people won't be able to get on this website. I will now ensure that my statement is true by saying the following 3 words that will cause BCF to disappear from any Chinese people's search engine.

Tiananman. Square. Protests.

China is at the forefront of developing the technology that will eventually be put to use here. There are just too many people who can't live with the knowledge that there are other people out there doing what they want. And no-one can argue against them when they decide to stop it.

Take the new "extreme" pornography laws for instance ... no-one could really stand up and say they shouldn't have been passed without looking like they themselves were into pervy stuff.

Are you serious?

There are all kinds of things that will be taken down anonymously if you put them up right now.
