Keith Floyd died of a heart attack last night.

He was, by far, my favourite "TV Chef".
This makes me sad Sad

The man was a full on legend.

Very odd that there was a documentary/interview on/with him last night, then he dies.

I didn't watch the programme, as it was with that total arsehole Keith Allen.

Always loved the perpetual slurping of wine and the feeling that he was always on the brink of disaster.

That's a shame. I always rather liked watching his show, largely because it all felt like he was feeling his way through the whole thing. Added a certain 'je ne sais what'.

RIP Mr. Floyd.

Damn - would rather watch him than Ramsey any day! He gave me directions once - didn't remember who it was until I'd driven off though.

If he gets cremated - I hope they stand back when they light the fire.

Shame, he was ace. I love his no nonsense style, middle of know where, hot pan and local ingredients, he always got stuck in on his travels mixing with people.

That's a real shame, he was one of the few people who you honestly felt was the same on TV as he was all the time. To start probably the mother of all fights, I would say that Jamie Oliver has that same quality, yes, he's a dick, but you get the impression that he's always a dick, be it on TV or in real life. Gordon Ramsey swears to make himself look important on TV and the rest of them are pretentious arseholes, with the exception of Marco Pierre-White who is a psychopath on TV and in real life Mr. Green

RIP Keith, I'll have a drink for you tonight.

Cheers

Grim

I knew him a very little bit. He did have a drink problem and his life was a shambolic mess when he was drinking. Which is not big or clever, for him or pretty much anyone who had anything to do with him.

I too hope he is now at peace.

Thats wierd, as there was a tv documentary on about him last night. (as damo already said)

I hope it didnt contribute to his demise. At the end of it they said he had been diagnosed with bowel cancer.

The documentary will probably be on the channel 4 website to watch for those who didnt see it.

It was Keith Allen doing the interviewing. Events included, the daughter keith floyd hadnt seen for years, and comments on celebrity chefs.

Ironic as arguably he was the first.

Must be something in the air...Floyd and Patrick Swayze in one hit.

Damn shame, I thoroughly enjoyed watching the Floyd cooking adventures.

Yeah, and it's interesting to note that in the BCF popularity stakes, KF ranks higher than PS - currently 12 replies to this thread (inc mine), whilst the Swayze thread only manages a paltry 10.

If this was a more female dominated forum (oo-er) then I'm sure Mr Swayze would have a long thread.....alas...he doesn't,

Mr Floyd liked to drink lots, and I'm sure many on BCF can relate to that!

My fave TV chef, he didnt try to change the world (like the fat tounged mockney twat) he simply wanted to show us the delights of food. Hehad a genuine enthusiasm for what he was doing. I enjoyed some of the peasent food he cooked in france, just for its plain simplicity.

Bottoms up! And rest in peace.

I'm not old enough to have seen them.

Edit, having googled them, they dont seem to be colourful character celebrities. Keith Floyd was the first of the colourful character proper celebrity chefs.

I read that and was reminded of Clement Freud, who I've discovered has also died in April 2009. He also used to bumble around as a TV cook but without the flair of Floyd.

It's as I feared, Keith Floyd had a heart attack while watching the documentary about him by Keith Allen.

I'd be curious about which bit got him all worked up.

Keith Allen, you bastard, you killed a national treasure.

Apologise !

You need to watch him, not google him.
