Hows it going everyone,
i have just bought my first bike its a 2001 nsr 125 its a full power version,3200km on the clock, theres a couple of little problems though .Firstly how long are you supposed to warm it up for,the garage told me a FEW minutes,is that roughly or really 3/4 minutes,or is it safe to start her up and ride of after say 23/30 seconds ?Secondly my bike doesnt seem to like the 3000-6000 rpm range it seems to hesitate and splutter a bit,but after 6000-6500 it really takes of and it is sweet as,fuckin flies as well i,presume when they say full power then there are no restrictors in it,i havnt been that brave yet as its my first bike but it was doing 140 kph on the way home no probs and it still seemed to have plenty in her,
Any replies would be great
Paul

A couple of minutes is fine. Generally what I do is leave it ticking over while i put my lid and gloves on then take it easy for a coupla minutes.

Sounds like you could need a new soark plug. 2 strokes eat them.

with my nsr i like to leave it 4 atleast 5 mins.then by the time uve put ur lid on and got ready just rev it a few times to clear any smoke and it should be fine.u might get some splutterin wen u first pull away but it will clear quite quick.as 4 the hesitation try changin the spark plug.they spoil well easy in 2strokes.they get clogged up.

yes. oil flows more smoothly in a warm engine, and if you ride it cold, it may warm up very fast and cause a seizure in a new engine.

Hi

Normally I just start the bike and ride off immediatly, but do not rev the engine hard until warm. For a start in minimises the time on the choke (excess fuel will wash the oil off the bore and bearings causing more wear), and will get the engine warm more quickly.

All the best

Keith

i do the same as Keith starp it up and im off that way, this way the bike warms up quicker! and low speed runing on a 2 stroke causes it 2 carbon everything up!

My choke comes off as soon as the bike starts. Pay it a little attention on the revs every 30 secs or so and it's sorted:)
