This is worthy of the geek zone as its bloody amazing. A real step up from Rolands Handsonics drum pads. Its the new Korg Wave Drum. It's velocity sensitive like a vigin on her wedding night and its crammed with samples ready to be moulded/morphed with the flick of a wrist. Can you guess what i really really NEED.

As a geek, a musician and a drummer I can officially say that this is very cool. I've been playing on a yamaha electric drum kit for years now to hundreds of people and it's always been very sensitive so that isn't new, nor is the hitting different parts of a pad thing new but the combination they have going on here is insanely cool.

I started out by doing percussion and bongos / congo stuff though so this is definitely making want to get a little bit back in to it.

My only issue is the sounds they're actually using here, it's a little too electronic. If the samples were much more natural, like a real drum with a real drum skin, it would be a lot better. Then adding on the different effects they've got going on here would be fantastic.

Overall I'd say a real drum is going to be way more satisfying though.

I use a Yamaha electronic kit via MIDI into N.I Battery 3 or anything really, Getting some interesting noises by hooking it into my hardware synths daisychained into a ESX groovebox...end up spending most of my time messing about and not just..er drumming
Back to the new Wave Drum......on the sonicstate.com website they mentioned it's crammed with trad drum sounds so performing a standard kit will be P.o.P ....once you've decided on how you physically want to play it.
Unlike most gadgets all, and i mean all musical gadgets live forever. An example is the Stylophone. I still have my rare white version complete with Rolf flexi disc. Run it through a Big Muff and Wah-wah and that was 20yrs before the white stripes used one. Same goes for Speak n Spell toys.

Also while i'm wittering on i'll ask for your advice on my next purchase.....I need a new CD player. My CDN34 is misbehaving and its had a long hard life. So do i go for another twin CD deck (Rackmount) with all the bells n whistles? Thinking of the Numark DDS80 ...In short it plays anything 3 USB ports, has a 80GB hardrive(or slot my Terra in ) connects to PC Plays the music from DVDs full colour screen even has a mini keyboard

Or do i go for a High Grade CD player. Better frequency range=superior sound, will do SACD mp3.wav.wma. Balanced outputs 1st class D-A converters. Low jitter.

Hmm.. i love listening to music...properly. And i love gadgets that will keep me fiddling for hours. Dunno on this 1.
