hey all i just got a peugeot ludix snake 50 and noticed the oil warning light flashing, any ideas as to what is going on?

somethings wrong with your oil, check the oil level.

level ok just topped it up

there is light smoke from exhaust

i dont know if tee is somesort of float device on these maybe its stuck or the pump gone

If it ever happens again, stop riding the bike immediately and phone someone to bring you some 2 stroke oil. When the light comes on you are on the bare minimum and if that runs out you're going to be left with an expensive repair bill.

Be warned.

oil is full cannot get anymore in tank but light still flashes, i can only think that the pump is naff and needs replacing, or the wiring is faulty.

when my mates oil light came on, we filled it back up with 2t... it took about.. 3 or 4 miles for it to actually realise we topped it up...same with the petrol light..

That was on a derbi gpr50 tho

I am not familiar with the bike, but if it is a 2-stroke oil light, then it is a level light. Even if the pump was fried then it shouldn't make the light come on. Its not a pressure switch like in a car.

If the 2-stroke tank is full and the oil light is on then it IS a faulty sensor or wire somewhere.

pump is ok, i removed the pipe from the carb started the bike and oil dripped out

so it is more likely the sensor buggered as others have said.

As explained, it was never going to be a faulty pump causing the light to come on, I am not sure why you removed the pipe?!!? Rolling Eyes

I do hope you haven't now damaged the bike by taking the pipe off and running it without any 2-stroke oil, it won't like that!! Shocked

i removed the pipe on advice from a bike mechanic (bike centre nr notts)

the bike was run for about 5 secs then turned off, i would imagin there was some oil already in the carb for the engine to be run for that amount of time

just need 2 tyres now Wink

It's not going to get damaged from pulling the pipe off for a few seconds.
