Ok, its a bit different, its deciding if to get a car or a bike.

I had Honda NSR 125 for 2 years and now i have a Suzuki GSXR 600 which i had for almost a year now.

If everything goes well i should have 3 years NCB by chritmas.

So when my insurance runs out i want to get something new, defiantly not keeping the bike as i am (funny enough) bored of it.

So its either me getting a car or another bike (R1).

Budget of around 2.5k , for this i can get nice ish old model Honda Civic 1.5 or Ford Focus or something similar, insurance still fucking high for car, cheapest i have seen was something like 900quid full comp on Ford Focus.

If i get a bike (R1) insurance would be around 300-400 which is decent i think.

By the way, i don't want to get any other type of bike, its either R1 or a car, please help!

I just had enough of British weather and i miss music and with a car its easier to do things like shopping, ect.

But fun factor with having R1 would probably be high but not sure if it will outweight all the advantages of having a car.

Thanks, Yarri

£900 for ford focus insurance?!? You need to shop around. Laughing

No point asking on here if you should get an R1 or a Focus, of course the answer is going to be R1, in the same way that if you ask on a car forum they'll tell you to get the car.

How many essential miles do you need to do a year? If it's just for shopping and the occasional lift for mates, doesn't seem a lot of point having a 2.5k car. Just get a little run-around.

If you could stretch another 500 notes, you could conceivably have a small car and a decent bike with insurance for both.

I`m in the same situation atm deciding wether to get a car for a while....it`s a tricky one ain`t it.Whatever you choose you`re probably gonna miss the other so i`d say think practical at this time of year.
How much fun do you realistically think you`re gonna have on an R1 with winter approaching?..if this year`s anything like last year you`ll have a proper nightmare on a litre superbike.

Think i`ll probably make the car the main priority for this year and get something less expensive than my current bike with the change from the sale......just for the ocassional winter hack.
But i`ll be saving hard till spring then get myself another decent bike for sure. That`s the plan anyway.
Good Luck.....do whatever makes the most sense to you right now.. Wink

Buy the car and put a photo of an R1 on the sun visor, so that everytime you take the car out on a sunny day you will be reminded of what you are missing.

Get a stupidly huge luxury car to drive about in the winter then sell it in the spring and get a bike.

I mean like an old daimler/jag or similar. You loose very little in depreciation. You could get an old XJ8 or a Lexus GS for that sort of money. Insurance is often cheaper on them bacause a) The are classics and b) People don't usually crash them.
