Me and the Mrs are having our first real holiday together in a few weeks, we have rented a nice little thatched cottage just outside of Newquay. The only downside is that our two dogs are coming with us.

What hidden gems have the BCF peeps found in cornwall other than the usual touristy stuff? Im open to all suggestions as we both like lots of different stuff!

Cheers al,l Tom

I like the area around Goonhilly Downs :-

https://maps.google.co.uk/maps?f=q&source=s_q&hl=en&geocode=&q=cornwall&sll=52.267408,-0.916044&sspn=0.012107,0.026114&ie=UTF8&ll=50.042809,-5.068474&spn=0.050822,0.136986&z=14

Some nice cliff walks, and you can visit the Goonhilly Earth station, if that floats your boat.

Go see wasson at Minack Theatre.

Its a nice open air theater built into the cliffs.

Great if the weathers good, not so great in the fog.....

Watch out round the redruth/cambourne zone tis chock full o' inbreds!!

Bodmin Moor is always good for a walk with the dogs, but don't go to Roughtor carpark after dark!!

Roughtor Carpark = Hiking spot by day ---> Dogging spot at night!!!

If you go down to the south coast, Mevagissey and Fowey / Polruan are two halfs of a great day.

If you're tempted by the Eden Project, here's some wise words: Don't be afraid to get the hell outta there. Plants can be interesting for only so long.

I only spent half a day there, as you say interesting to a point. I went slightly further afield and went to see the ponies on Dartmoor, you can walk for miles and not see another person, Bodmin moor is also good for a walk. Don't bother with land's End - too commercialised now, I mean what has Doctor Who got to do with Cornwall? Shocked

Ah, but there is nothing more entertaining than the local Redruth vs Cambourne derby... I just love watching those men trying to kill each other using the excuse of an egg-ball Very Happy

Pity its on Boxing day every year. Sad Redruth are shit loads better than Camborne to play in the same league.

'Druth win most of their matches in their league anyway. I always struggle to decide whether to support Stourbridge (my home team and definitely the underdogs) or the Druth because they're so ruthless.

I miss boxing day matches Sad There's no better way to celebrate Christmas than attempting to eat a pasty but spilling the contents on the floor from shivering whilst enjoying the blood bath on pitch.
