Hi

Neither will do the indicated speed, and if either are doing over 30 then they have been modified. So depends which speedo is the most inaccurate. Realistically 65 is going to need about 11hp, and I suspect both are making 6~7hp once derestricted.

As to the RS v the TZR, they both use the same engine I think.

All the best

Keith

Hi

Digital speedo means nothing. Just means it is an accurate representation of a garbage speed.

60 indicated could legally be about 50 (limit is 10% + 8kmh I think).

As to reliability, it uses the same engine (I think) in about the same state of tune. Unlikely that the engine will be more reliable. Add to that they are far less common so likely to be harder to find cheap 2nd hand bits.

What has been unreliable on the RS50?

All the best

Keith

so u think that a car doesnt give a true indication of speed?
well so far ive bbought a new piston and barrel, spark plugs galore, new lead, new stator, 2 speedo cables, lots of bulbs and used to never start for me...altho all that is fixed i just had the clutch cable snap today...altho i love the bike, it does become quit annoying with the problems...i know not all r bad reliabilty from aprilia, and more just bad luck, but maybe thats more a reason to change bike, plus the tzr50 is newer...

I guess the question is, how much can you sell the rs50 for and will you make a profit? If not, why waste your time...

Nope. It will over read, just a question of how much. And whether it is digital is irrelevant.

As to the problems, not sure how old the bike is but if the TZR is newer then the RS isn't that new. Cables do snap, bulbs do blow, and the barrel / piston are as likely to need doing on the TZR. Its a small engine which has been tuned and has the nuts thrashed off it . Them going bang occasionally is pretty inevitable.

All the best
