Did they do a 3 litre Pinto engine?, biggist I thought they made em was 2 litre, and I dont think you could even bore that out to 3 litres. Or did you mean Essex?
I've got a mate with a RS2000 in his barn which is currently being welded back together and being given the full rally treatment. Its a well nice car, good taste!!! Thumbs Up

Not sure about project car per say..

But I would like a Pontiac Trans Am rather a lot, in black with the gold pinstriping a la smokey and the bandit.

In fact I may have one in a couple of years. Just need to persuade someone to put the steering wheel on the right side.

Hi

Not sure really. I have a kit car to build, but too many bikes to fix to have the time.

For fun a Maserati Ghibli II would be nice.

All the best

I read somehwere that westfeild or maybe radical were making a new engine from 2 busa engines. instead of a 1.3 litre in line 4, it was going to be a 2.6 litre V8 :O

I saw a few megabusa's at a hillclimb at the weekend, an F3 car running on methanol, a Jedi with a 750 2 stroke in it, and a ford mexico with a V8 in it Very Happy

Not really that clever with cars any more so don't know what I'd want as a "project" probably a caterham seven or something.

Dream car wise I'd like an Aston Martina V12 Vanquish perrrlleasee!

But in reality, I might do my driving test next year and get one of these beauties...

I've never understood the fascination with mini's. They're not even small or nice or fun to drive....but then I suppose I'm biased.

Arrow Why have a Mini when you can have a Fiat 126??

\me runs for cover and prepares to get slated for that comment!

It's Radical that are making a V8 (Formed on the basis of two Busa engines, they've been using the 1300 unit for a few years now in there race and track cars). I used to do some work for them, so know some of the people there.

Dr Nick has the right idea, I'm with you on the 6R4 front. Although, I've always wanted a Ford RS200..... mmmmmm Drooling

Other than that, I'd like a Caterham, have plans to get one at some point. Just the funding that is compliating the issue. Wink

Or, a original 1071 Cooper S mini. Not a bloody BMW One series piece of crap.

They look good and have good character, they are much better than all the Daewoos and Fords that all look the same.

I don't know why so many people, particulary on this forum, are so against new shiney things. Some people like new shiney things yet get slated for it Laughing It's a nice car, it looks good, they drive nicely (from what I've read about them) and it's a car, it does what it is supposed to do but why aren't they allowed to look good?

The new mini is probably a perfectly good car, but its not a real Mini is it? Its not what the old car was, British and thats what a lot of people have against it in Britain. Some people feel the Germans have stolen a British Icon for there own gain, and what with all those flags on cars going around you know just how patriotic Britains can be. As a car I expect the new Mini is bloody good, but as a Mini its just a souless BMW in a party dress, and thats just wrong.

Which is why I hate it Mad

Oh well each to his own. Thumbs Up

Looking at it from that point of view, I guess you are right, it's lost it's identidy now and has become more of a "wannabe" although in my opinion that goes for the Valkswagen beetle, the new ones are disgusting.

But I like the new mini on terms of looks more than it's identidy, but I do like old mini's a lot too, I just prefer newer shinier, more modern things.

But I can agree with you on the BMW taking it over etc. Lost a good icon but that's no reason to hate it Smile

Aggree with you on the Beetle there as well, thats even worse, engines in front, water cooled and everything. But thats what they call progress I suppose.
I guess whan I said I hated it I mean I hated it because of what it stands for.... the car itself seems a sweet little thing, and its much more refined, cleaner on the enviroment and quicker than the old Mini, its no doubt a better shineyer modern car. Its just though every time I see the "Mini" badge on one it just annoys me slightly, Im very over sensitive to things like that because of my liking for classic cars / bikes as much as new cars / bikes.

I totally agree with you about the "re-vamped" versions of the Mini and the Beetle. The new Beetle is absolutely vile. Mini's and Beetles (old and new alike) drive like a car. There is nothing exciting about them. They are also as common as pie.

Have you ever driven a Fiat 126 or the more classic Fiat 500?? If you ever get the chance you will know what I am getting at. Rear wheel drive, tiny lawn-mower sized engine in the back, air cooled, so light you can make the front end lift (see pic above!) and just a barrel of laughs to drive and cannot be matched to the drive of any other car!!

Ok, I will shut up now. Rolling Eyes

Ive seen one (126 i think) with a massive dirty american V8 do a 0-60 at Donny South last year. Did it in about 3-4 seconds. Looked and sounded mental Smile . The thing was so damn loud!

Its wierd seeing this little toy car, just launch itself at warp speed down the strip. Cool

I love my project car... A lancia Y10Turbo
A little 1049cc turbocharged car with great handling.
They're also good for bout 120bhp which isn't bad.

Other car could be an old BMW 2002 with turbo conversion maybe m3 lump etc.....

I have always pondered what could be done to a milk float... Saw someone put nitrous into one on 'Monster Garage'.
But i would prefer to tinker with a yellow VW Beetle... old style one obviously.

There was a milk float recently which had a Pratt and Whittney Turbofan fitted Mr. Green .

Well if i could have a project car and all the cash id need to do it up then i reckon its going to be an old jap sports car/coupe. A big yank muscle car, favourite being a Plymouth Roadrunner 440hemi, being the second choice. But one of the following would do:
1, Mazda RX7 mk1
2, Supra mk2 or mk3
3, Mitsubushi starion turbo
I wouldnt mind an early Audi Quattro either, or if im being really sad a Rover 220turbo coupe, and getting even more modern a Fiat Coupe 20v turbo.

EAAAAAAAAASY. One of them rad off road buggies with the box tublar frames, narly suspension, big arse tyres, about 150kgs, and a busa/r1 engine in em... Go 90 up 75 degree hills and leap off the top. Mentalists. Id love a go in one of them, but id so shite myself. That said straight line ti would be fun... busa engine in a lighter frame with better centre of gravity (no flipping it) and prbab;y downgeared........
