I was in a similar position buying my Kwak ER6F (my first big bike too) albeit my ride back after buying the bike was only 60 miles - thought 'what the heck' and rode it back (spent about 10 mins riding it around on a housing estate near the dealership before the ride home).

Definately glad I did it - the ride back was a bit scary but totally awesome.

Previous to that I had my first bike vanned over the Pennines (my 125) from a dealers in Sheffield (didn't fancy the big hills on a 125 and had not passed my test then).
The company delivered it ok but may have scratched one of the front forks (could never be sure as I only spotted it after delivery) - they charged me £80 (good rate) though seem to remember but I had to wait until they had a couple of other bikes coming my way (approx 80 miles from the dealer to my house).

Personally, I'd say pick the best day for the weather/road conditions and ride it!

Although im new to bikes, i'd say ride it too.

have a little practice before you take it out on the main roads.

5-10 miles in, think you'll be lovin it.

Yes, I will definitely be riding it back now, providing the purchase goes to plan. Thumbs Up

Just curiosity on this last item. What is the strange switch (like a rear brake switch) which runs from the rear left hand footrest hanger down to the sidestand?

Good spot, I'll be sure to raise this with him when I go up there. It certainly doesn't look like a lash job for anything - looks too neat for that. Perhaps just a sensor/switch for the side stand.

When Bartek and Boris sling your bike in the back of their fake plated van, good luck getting help from ClickTrans.

Hi,

I'm potentially buying a bike within the next week. The bike is about 250 miles away. My plan is to go by train to view the bike, then if I make the buy I'll get it delivered back to my house.

ritebike.co.uk seem to offer a price which is close to what I was expecting.

Can anyone recommend a good service?

This was his last post. Wonder if he's home yet?
