 |
|
Im missing biking and am getting tempted back on to a bike.
Trouble is i dont have much in the way of £££ at the moment as the other half needs a car also.
So £500 is the limit, maybe a TAD higher.
Has to be fun and look half decent.
Can be any sort of bike but would like a half decent top speed (120-130ish perhaps).
Only ever ridden sports bikes but i dont think theres many of those in that price range!
Any ideas? ____________________ || Past: 1991 Kawasaki ZXR 250 ~ 2003 Honda CBR 600 F Sport ~ 2004 Kawasaki ZX6R B1H 636 ~ 1999 Yamaha R1 ~ 1999 Kawasaki ZX6R J ~ 2004 Kawasaki ZX6R B1H 636 ~ 1998 Honda VTR1000F Firestorm ~ K1 GSXR 600 Track bike ~ K6 GSXR 1000 ~ 2006 Speed Triple 1050 || Current: 2005 R1 https://www.adrucore.co.uk |

Plenty of old sports for that sort of money!!
Checked ebay lately? Quite a few nice condition FZR6's for about 500.
Mate picked up a really really good condition ZXR750 for 700 the other day so a little bit over.
You definatley should be able to get a half decent bike for 500!!
Keep searching and good luck!!

I think sports bike, fun, 120-130mph and really good looks are a bit much to ask for £500 IMO! You should get a decent bike with some of those features, but choice and preference would have to be quite low on the list for that money IMO, especially if you want a bike that doesn't need much work or has a silly high mileage.
Also i'm not sure id want a 130mph bike that only costs £500, as something like a GSXF1100, FZR1000, CBR1000, GPX1000RX etc, would be a liability with age and worn old cycle parts and still alot of power to control and put down. In the same way that a 20year old hot hatchback would still go fairly fast, but with worn suspension, brakes and steering components, it would be a wobbly old mess compared to a new modern small car etc.

Ok not the best bikes I know.
But GSXF (which i think looks like it has gills) should do your 120 I would have though, probably the GPZ too.
To be honest mate if you don't have the cash your limited to outdated crap. The exception to this is if your name is mattspratt and you repeatedly score rediculous bargains.
Im currently on a GS400E which is so far the "best" bike I've ever owned. I've had my license for just under two years and in that two years I've had a constant stream of utter shite for the simple reason that I never could afford anythen good!
I dread to think the day when I get to have a ride on something half modern that most members would take for granted.
Hell, even something like an SV650 to me would seem the high of power, handling and braking!! Sad as that may seem.
Beggars as they say, can't be choosers!!

I dont mind not having it sporty, i know nothing about supermotos though so dont know what im looking at! 120 would be nice, but isnt a must as long as it doesnt "feel" slow if you know what i mean.
Its not going to be a easy switch after coming from a B1h and a R1  ____________________ || Past: 1991 Kawasaki ZXR 250 ~ 2003 Honda CBR 600 F Sport ~ 2004 Kawasaki ZX6R B1H 636 ~ 1999 Yamaha R1 ~ 1999 Kawasaki ZX6R J ~ 2004 Kawasaki ZX6R B1H 636 ~ 1998 Honda VTR1000F Firestorm ~ K1 GSXR 600 Track bike ~ K6 GSXR 1000 ~ 2006 Speed Triple 1050 || Current: 2005 R1 https://www.adrucore.co.uk |

Personally I dont give a fuck what a bike LOOKS like. I don't have to see it while I'm doing the deed riding it do I.
Saying that tho, flashy clocks and dials.... |

Been having a lot of fun on my GS 500 recently, picked that up for £400 on Ebay. Been getting my knee down on it and showing a lot of sport bike riders up
Also it is easily modifiable to make it better and parts are dirt cheap. ____________________ My current bikes are - YZF-R1 & GS 500 E

I bought mine for 300 quid with mot, flogged it for 500 yesterday, it's a decent bike that still looks alright.
If people are prepared to wait around then there are some bargains to be had. My last couple of bikes.
98 RF900R 21k, mint condition, bought for 850, sold for 1400 month later

ZZR600's fetch bugger all and have an engine which was used as the base for the early ZX6r. 140mph top end and a lovely kick at around 8000rpm too. Should be able to pick an early example up for the money you're looking to spend. ____________________ Staffs Riders Forum |
