Friend of mine with a '94 cb400sf has noticed abit of oil leakage around one of the rear shock absorbers. Calling up honda, they say they don't sell just the seal, only the entire assembly which comes up to £500!

does anyone know any breakers that might specialize in this bike? or does it have the same shocks as any other bikes? (to better ones chances of finding one).

Wemto has them for £104. which seems reasonable. but does anyone know anywhere else?

Have you tried looking on ebay? I've found it's the best place to get parts for older or grey bikes. Also if you notice someone who's selling a lot of parts for your bike, but not the ones you're after, it's worth emailing them to see if they do have them after breaking a bike, just haven't listed them.

Hi

Other option would be to try a decent suspension specialist to see if they can rebuild the shocks.

All the best

did check out ebay, and most of the shocks are not for this cb, but the older 70's and 80's CB's.
looking at the ones on the wemoto website, I don't think they're the same kind of design as on the cb400sf.

if you can see from this photo below (warning, high res). it has a little canister next to it that has hydraulic fluid in it.

I'd imagine they'd charge a fortune, just like honda.
or would i be wrong?
my friend did say that its recently stopped leaking. which could be quite a bad thing.. as its probably going to dry out and possibly seize. especially with the colder weather coming.

Hi

Basic rear shock rebuild is about £100 when I have had it done. Not sure with those being twin shock whether they would be simpler or not. Presume with a remote reservior they already have a valve to recharge them.

If they are the same as CB400 Super Four then Hagon sell them.

All the best

Keith

What does a shock rebuild consist of, and who did you have it done by?

As Kickstart has said, you can get a pair of Hagons, for around £120 :-

Strip down, replace seams, recharge with oil / gas, etc. Also might find the damper rods need replacing (ie, if pitted or scored).

Few places around that will do shock rebuilds. Eg.Revs Racing

All the best
