l plate question and great german roads

i'm off abroad on my R6 for a blast an so with a week off. Now my mate wants to come with me on his RS125 but he is still on L-plates. Can he legally ride abroad on L's or does he have to pass his full test first?

By the way i'm are going to Nuburgring in Germany (wether he is going or not) via france, belgium and the nederlands (fancy a road trip) if it helps.

as far as i know... (though i will no doubt be corrected) he can provided he has correct legal cover. But it will bring in the issue of no motorways

Fuck your mate off, not every day you get to do a trip like that and you don't need a 125 bumbling along behind you all the way there, might as well not bother. Plus he's on an RS125, I don't even think he would make it to Dover without blowing a piston.

My understanding is the restrictions on Learners vary, and especially the meaning and enforcement of an 'L' plate changes the moment you leave this island.

As such, you would need a full license in order to use it abroad. I have to echo the above comments though, even if it was legal I wouldn't recommend it!

To ride in france you have to have correct insurance cover, full license and be over 18years old. Remember from when i've looked in the past. HTH.

He is over 18 @ 21 but is only on his cbt. Due to failing his test twice. An i can't see him passing anytime soon.

An i just found out today he has sold the RS and bought a CG125. So i wouldn't let him come anyhow knowing this. At least an RS can do 80.

Any one got any reccomendations of places/roads to visit on the way? Heard there is supposed to be some mega roads in Germany.

You definitely need a full motorcycle license if you are from the UK and want to ride in Europe.

Plus you'll have to avoid autobahns which will be poo.
