This is a car video who was recording with his drive recorder. You can see a black car jump in front of his white wagon. What this video made me scary is "If this was me on my bike, how should I react?".

Also, you would be dead or seriously injured. Maybe ducking would help also braking may reduce the impact?
Pretty sure you are fucked in any case though.

not even on a bike you could avoid that even if you try to move left and pinned it that looked nasty though

Go to 1'50" I was not expecting that to happen.
As for what would happen if you were on the bike ! Not alot you could do about it as it happened so fast. I think you'd be very lucky to be alive.

Doesn't look like much anyone could do...other than try and handle their vehicles properly!

A tip for motorbikes though...if it does look like you're going into a head on crash, to try and jump out of your seat, upwards that is so you go over the handlebars. As smashing forward into the tank, doesn't mix well with your pelvis.

Obviiously this is easier said than done, and also may end up making things worse!

dooorriiiiffftoooo!!!!
Cool

On a serious note, not much can realistically be done to avoid that. He did have a good 3 seconds reaction time (maybe more as he may be able to see further than the camera) but that's provided the driver was actually doing observations rather than being on autopilot.

You will surprise yourself what you can avoid with about 1 second to react if you just commit to doing something. I feel it's easy to get into a moment of indecision and not do anything.

I guess the best thing would be to see the car sliding down the other side of the road and pull yourself as far away from it as you can or go behind it on the other side of the road. I know there's a central reservation type thing but I'd be safer than hitting the van.

Looks like black car lost control and skid (puncture or went to drift mode?)
I'm usually riding in a relaxed mode on dual carriage ways...
I must change my mind from now..

I will practise it.

Lol don't practice it, not a very good idea to do unless it is going to let you avoid a more serious injury, or unless you don't like your bike?

First time i watched it, i didn't see anything till just before the car hit the cam car. I was watching it like I would ride. Looking for stuff in front of me, not flying in from the other lane Laughing

On a bike, I wouldn't have been able to do anything. I would either be dead or almost dead.

Looks like he swerves into the barrier on the other side as he was going to fast into that bend.

Shocked

I consider myself to have fast reactions but I don't think I could have done a thing in that situation, it happened too fast. Swerving to the left would have been the best thing to do, but obviously you'd need to be paying damn good attention to the other lane (which you just don't do)...

spotted the car hitting the barrier on other side and guessed it was gonna crash but not at that speed, the central reservation only lifted up into the air rather than stop it

if i saw it happening i'd probobly move to the left and pin it, chances are that the car would had ploughed across your side of the road and bounced about so even slowing down would leave you vulnerable.

jumping out of your seat might help if it was a low car, you'd end up just sliding along the road and if you had good gear on you'd be somewhat better off

Blooooody Hell!!

That scared the life out of me! Can't see any way anyone could have avoided that - On a bike it would have been carnage. Shocked

That central reservation is a joke - it'd be better off removed as it provides a false sense of security and a pretty handy launch ramp at the same time.

You'd be better off turning the bars hard to the right to steer yourself into the side of the road, you'd come off and probably hit something but at least it wouldn't be a ton of high speed metal.

Last thing I'm going to think of is doing that. If you've just lost control of your bike, it's usually over so quickly, there's nothing you can do.

Plus, 99% of people will try and steer the bike to safety, even if it would be an un-avoidable crash, as stupid as it sounds, you think about trying to save the bike from damage not yourself.

From that clip I don't think you'd even have time to shit your pants, might JUST start to grab the brakes or try to turn but never enough to make any difference. Funny to think how many people's last word is just "fuck". Mind you, maybe in real life you could see the van start to lose the back end a bit earlier than in the vid.

Not sure how the guy managed to lose it there though, I guess he was going pretty quick into the corner and lifted off the throttle or even worse, braked. No way he was actually going too fast to make it round the corner but unfortunately he never realised that fact. I suppose the other possibility was a rear puncture though?

If I'd been on the ball and paying full attention, I reckon I'd have stood a chance of taking avoiding action. This would however have resulted in me hitting the armco to the left of the road then flying down what looks like quite a steep drop.

From personal experience, the whole time slowing down thing does happen during a crash.

I suspect that if a bike had been involved in that accident, the rider would have flown over the bonnet of the van.
