What chain lube do you use? and what would you recommend?

For along time i used some stuff my dad had in the garage (dont know what oil it was) in a squirty can thing.

Its ok stuff but i decided to get some propper stuff the other day.
Bought one of them Spray on chain lubes.
Took like 20seconds to apply it with the back wheel off the ground and i was pleased until a week later when i came to clean the shit off my wheel that can flung off the chain. OMG this was a pain in the ass this shit just wouldnt come off my wheel! Ended up using white spirit to get the shit off.

Any good lubes out there that tend to stay on your chain and easy to get off the rear wheel?

Another vote for this, havn't been able to find any locally, so bought something else, can't remember what it was, a big brand, so thought it would be good, as it was expensive aswell.

Goes everywhere.

That Wurth stuff is definately the best.

I just got some chain wax instead of the usual lube and it is amazing, it tipped it down with rain, I rode just over 200 miles and the chain was still well enough lubed not to lube it before storage, normally i have to lube after a dry run out never mind if it rained while out.

Not sure of the make as it is outside with the bike.

Anybody else use this wax stuff?

Just looked at the link above that is the lube I used before it is ok but not as good as this stuff, I know it is the same because that one is in the house.

Don't bother with the other Wurth Chain Wax, it flings off just like the cheap stuff.

That is funny the wax was better for me, each to their own, none of the wax went on the wheel either.

I normally use old engine oil after the shit's been settled out of it, but then I'm a pikey.

+1 for Wurth, doesn't fling too much, although I do tend to get a lot of drip when I first apply it. Wipe it off the fairing and you're ready to go. Smile

I either use old gearbox oil, chainsaw oil or some really old shell spray on lube.

All fling off everywhere.

I use this:

https://www.mxsouth.com/silkolene/silkolene-2-stroke-premix-oil-pro-scoot_1.jpg
As I had 2 litres left over when I sold the old 2t Trekker.
I had meant to sell it with, but forgot, so now it is used as chain lube for the motorbike, and mine and the kids pushbikes Smile

I tried wurth dry chain lube but didn't really get along with it as I ride in all weathers so found I was getting through a lot of it in short periods of time as the rain would wash it off. Bought a tutoro automatic chain oiler which is good for £20 but could be better. Am now using castrol chain wax which i'm pretty happy with, doesn't appear to fling much at all (even when doing 120+ on private roads of course). If I was to just ride whilst it's dry though I would use the dry chain lube.

I would agree with evil dude above, plus Wurth engine and wheel cleaner and a dry cloth, your wheels are spotless in seconds and the paint is still there!!

I will never use castrol chain wax ever again. Remove your front sprocket cover and you will find loads fo chain wax build up, filled with little stones and grit that stick to the chain wax. This is effectively a grinding paste, which is also what the wax on your chain is doing, collecting litle bits of grit and crap.

The Wurth stuff I also found comes off too easily, so I compromised and bought some Silkolebe stuff that seems to do the job well.

Cheers

Grim

I use that Muc off stuff posted above. It seems to do the job but does fling all over the rear wheel and stick like hell which means you need to buy wheel cleaner as well Laughing

I find what helps is that if you apply it the night before and let it 'settle' it flings less when you ride it Thumbs Up
