I appealed my parking ticket that I got from Central Ticketing or something about 6 weeks ago(ish)

I just got this through the post, I had forgotten about it

The majority of you advised me to ignore it, after reading the last paragraph which states:

"You should be aware that it is your responsibility to ensure that payment is received by Central Ticketing within the timeframe specified. Please note that failure to provide payment within 10 days of the above date will result in your case being passed to our debt recovery agents. This will result in an increased charges and further administrative costs. In addition, court action may be taken against you."

I'm a little worried

Appeal again, IIRC as long as it is in appeal nothing can be done against you.

The "Appeals" process is put in by PPC's to make it sound professional and official, and make it sound similar to a council parking ticket (which you must not ignore).

the only difference between the two is that the council does cosider appeals, the PPC doesnt, and just gives you the standard letter of "appeal rejected, pay up" no matter what the circumstances are.

no appeal is sucessful to PPC's, why loose out on potential profits?

Just ignore, youll probably get a couple more from the company, and a couple of more "menaching letters" from a "debt colector" (who has zero power to collect money, only a court appointed baliff can recover debt).

the only way they can get money from you is by taking you to court (very, very, very unlikely) and even then they have to prove that theyve lost money by you parking there (£0.00).

best thing to do is ignore, and file the letters away, and as someone said, go to pepipoo for general support on this issue.

Agree with kickstart.

I`ve dealt with loads of companies over the years and similar situations as this (mainly debts) ...and this is always their first line of approach....scare tactics.
Most people shit themselves when they hear about debt collectors and court costs and just pay up to avoid extra expense.

The fact of the matter is you disagree with the fine (for whatever reason) and wish to appeal it.An appeal cant be carried out by the same people who issued you with the fine.It has to be an independent body.Have you done that already?If so do you still disagree with the charge after hearing what "they" said?

If you`re serious about doing this you need to start either (a) recording your phone conversations to them and be very clear and specific about what you say (b) keep copies of emails sent...or (c) make sure you have copies of letters sent to them with proof of posting and tracking.

Doing the above is just to cover your own ass in the event that someone higher says you DO have to pay up....so you only pay the original fine and not the extra "x-amount" that they try to add on top in silly extortionate costs.

If theyre unwilling to play ball with you then THATS the time you ignore them.Your final communication to them should be something along the lines of " i want this case dealt with by a magistrate so i can present my evidence".Just be 100% sure you`ve kept records of the times you made an effort to sort the problem with city parking...and be 100% sure you have good grounds for appeal.

On the countless times i`ve done this with the companies that tried to bully me into paying them (when i was actually in the right)..i never heard from the companies again

On the times i did this with companies that i actually owed something to,but they wanted ridiculous settlements and amounts in one go that i couldnt afford......i eventually ended up getting massively reduced payment options coz i stood my ground.
The best one was an 11k bank loan i defaulted on.It took them 9 years to find me and through "ways and means" i`m only paying back £25 per month despite them saying they were sending bailiffs to remove all my goods.

Later found out i could`ve declared "statute barred" and not had to pay back anything...but didnt find that out soon enough
