...to swap the engine on a TZR125 for a DR800?

a guy at work today told me he used to race one. and that it was a pretty comon conversion.

i told him he was full of shit.

People used to do all sorts of things, not sure about this one as I would guess it would need lits of modification, but there again people used to race any and everything.

Hi

Not one I have heard of. Big singles into TZR250 frames maybe. Even if you wanted to I would doubt the TZR125 frame is wide enough (although being steel I suppose it would be easy to weld).

DR800 as in dr big? Bit rare and, er... big for putting into a crappy 125 chassis?

He probably is. Ask him what race series he was in. The only series for that kind of stuf years ago was the SoS or Sound of Singles but a DR800 engine in a TZR chassis has never been common although a Yamaha XT660 engine in a TZR125 chassis is what spawned the SZR660.
