Hey,
I bought a second hand car from a dealer the other day. He handed me the log book for the car and said i needed to sign it. The problem is there is no registered keepers signature on the v5.

With the car been sold to the motor trade (Me then buying it) do i need to have the registered keeper part signed? or can i simply sign the new keeper part?

I'm guessing they told the DVLA that it is just off the road.

Either way, it is their responsibility isn't it? You just sign and date the new keepers slip, they send off the V5 and you get a lovely new one a few weeks later?

You'd sign it, hand it back, they send it off to the DVLA then you receive your V5 in the post in a couple of weeks time.

But if you've got the whole V5 then you'll need to sign the registered keeper part (along with filling in the new keeper boxes) and send it to the DVLA.

Or don't send it to the DVLA and speed/illegally park to your hearts content, safe in the knowledge that you can't be traced by your registration number and that recent laws made this the responsability of the seller.
