 |
|
When I left school I wanted to get earning as soon as I could and I pretty much took whatever I could find for a few years. This lack of foreward planning meant I wound up in some absolutely awful jobs.
My worst one had to be running intestines through a series of rollers to squeeze out the waste that was still in them and then they could be sent for sausage skins. I only lasted there about three months but I do remember it taking another two months to get rid of the putrid smell* that had worked its way into my skin.
Whats the worst job you've ever had ?
*Edited because of the eagle eyed hellkat. Still it's nice to know someone reads my posts ____________________ And did you exchange a walk on part in the war for a lead role in a cage?

I started off after uni part time working for a steel company cleaning loo's, stairs, sweeping yards etc constantly. Basically cleaning up everyones shit... Well when I say constantly, most of it was actually spend in the seperate loo block either reading the Sun or dozing on the seats!
After several months I was called into the managers office expecting to be sacked for this, instead they asked if I had a clean car licence and made me full time van driver for the company - I loved it!
Other than that I worked on farms, worst time was over winter pulling frozen leaks out of the ground 7 hours a day - cutting fields full of lettuces over the summer wasn't much fun either, back breaking at the least. Made my day though when our school bully came to work at the same farm and only lasted a week before finding the work too tough. I then got upgraded to tractor driving and things got a WHOLE lot better from there. ____________________ Previous: Aprilia Habana Retro 50cc (beauty), Yamaha SR125 (fell apart), Honda XR125 (nippy little commuter), Honda SLR650 (Geewhizz), Yamaha Diversion 900S (Smoooooth) written off courtesy of a stupid escaped horse.
(7 year gap), BMW F650 (Relaxing ride). Aprilia Caponord ETV1000 (Big and bold). Yamaha FZS600 (got me in trouble too quick!).
Current: Yamaha TDM 900 (Comfy, light but big, power when needed). |

KFC while at college.
Some one went to the trouble of cutting the top of a Carling can and taking a shit in it then placing it in the toilet, manager came and got me and told me to take it out and dispose of it.
I walked out never to return.
It just got me that some one actually went to all that effort ____________________ ◙◙► K6 GSXR 600 ◄◙◙◙◙► K5 GSXR 1000 ◄◙◙◙◙► K5 GSXR 600 ◄◙◙◙◙► 96 RF600r ◄◙◙

Not as bad as some in here, but still I hated it.
I worked in a paints/gelcoats company, I was doing R&D but I still had to fuck with fibreglass and catalyst (MEPK). No matter how careful you was you'd always leave and then be itching all the way home on the bus. Showers only made it worse.
Plus if you got any gelcoat on you and didn't realise, it was easy to ruin your normal clothes, because gelcoats, unlike paint, do not air dry and require a catalyst, so it stays wet, and the tinest spot would smear to form a big horrible mess.
Add to the fact that I had my head stuck in a barrel of some kind of nasty solvent half the time, christ knows how much different shit I inhaled/absorbed through my skin.
The worst though was when they were busy they asked me to go onto the production floor.
Basically there was a tap, and below it a tin on some scales. the process was fill the tin to the weight, put a lid on, crimp the lid closed, load onto pallete, stack pallete 5 rows high, call the forklift guy to take it away, and he would return with a fresh pallete. Repeat.
If you even uttered a single word to the guy next to you the floor supervisor was so far up your arse you could taste bryl cream.
I wanted to take my life by lunchtime, and I had to do it for 5 days straight. I felt bad for the other guys though, some had been doing the exact same thing for 10+ years.

Probably working for a company that supplied financial software to RBS. Ridiculous deadlines, muppet management, power crazy customer, jobsworth colleagues, deaf/retarded waste of oxygen as a project manager.
Closest I've ever been to going postal. ____________________ Chances are quite high you are not in my Monkeysphere, and I don't care about you. Don't take it personally.

Door to door selling for a company that rhymes with Been Sleazy, I lasted a whole week of being told to stop putting those f***ing catalogues through my f***ing door. The only person who bought any was my Mum
I had a job for two separate summers cutting lettuce, although it was mind numbingly repetitive, the lads I worked with were a good laugh and we actually enjoyed it. Got a good sun tan too.
Cheers
