instead why not spend the cash on a suspension rebuild/set-up? ____________________ "intelligent inattention is preferable to unintelligent tinkering"

I agree with the above, tweak your suspension right or give it an overhaul and you will probably find a massive difference. I gave mine a tweak the other day and overdid it to the point it was getting too quick and unstable - back off a couple of notches on both ends and it is now perfect!

I think 'comfort' and 'handling' tend to be a bit exclusive from each other. If you want handling in the CBRRR sense, it's gonna be stiff and thus not as comfy as something set up a bit softer.
Or do you just mean you want a modern gnarly sportsbike with a big seat for your fat arse? |

You could just buy a 600RR for £2 - £4k, and I think there a very comfy bike, although compared to my old 06 R6, a bed of nails would be comfy
How about a Honda VFR?? |

Unfortunately he would need to stretch to at least 5k to be able to afford one... ____________________ Honda SFX50 > Aprilia SR125 > Aprilia RS125 > Honda RFV400 > K4 GSXR600 > KTM Duke > C1H 636 > K3 GSXR1000 > Aprilia RSV-R > Triumph Street Triple R > Ducati 899 Panigale > Aprilia Tuono 1100 > Triumph Daytona 675R > KTM SuperDuke 1290 2.0 |

Kind of unsure about naked bikes tbh as I do a lot of touring and its nice to tuck behind a fairing at 130 mph when you need to cover some distance abroad |

How about a 99 Fireblade, if you can find one with few enough miles. Bigger and comfier than the 929/954, still rapid enough to give you a grin and there's loads of parts etc.
As you can tell ffrom my sig, I had a hard time giving them up, if the bike was a toy and only for summer use, I'd have another one tomorrow.
Cheers

My problem is not a fat arse- I wish I did have one. I'm quite tall and skinny (6ft 1) so find most bikes very uncomfy -the seats are too hard, pegs too high, bars too low, etc. |
But that's what a sportsbike is these days - high pegs, low bars, stupid seat, rock hard suspension.
To gain comfort you have to forgoe 'sportiness'. As suggested, old blade, old zx9... basically old litre sports from about 10 years ago when 'sports' didn't mean chin on tank, arse in air, knees round ears quite so much. |

Why not keep your current bike for your touring or upgrade that for something that fills your touring needs and then look at getting a bike for your trackdays, that fills your handling needs. Plus will cover you for any fun days you fancy that don't cover too many miles. ____________________ Just because my bike was A DIVVY, does not mean i am...... |
