I had an off recently. Had to rebuild the front.

The forks now seem...... Soft. They have been straightened by a company and i put everything back on correctly.

Just seems to bounce more (if thats right?) If i go down a road i feel its not coping and not dampening the bumps. When i accelerate it feels like its bouncing down the road.

Is this just something in my head or is it the forks?

Thanks

Thumbs Up

Lower (or higher) weight oil in the forks could attribute a different feel to the forks or so I'm led to believe.

As you fitted them could the forks be of equal length according to the top yoke meaning an uneven damping over the bumps or even the straight and level.

Hi

Have you used the right amount and grade of fork oil? Could be that someone in the past has revalved the forks to suit a thicker oil.

All the best

Before i crashed the forks were fine. But now they seem off.

Oils havnt been changed.

How would i go about checking the length.

Would it be in the haynes manual or would i just measure off the yoke to what i think is correct?

Thanks

Hi

How has someone straightened them without draining the oil?

All the best

Keith

I would have thought that the oil would have been replaced if they were straightened? Surly they would have had to have been stripped in the shop.

Measure from a set point such as the centre of the wheel nut upwards till the bottom yoke and same on other side. Any difference then ones longer than the other. Measuring the top of the fork above the yoke could also work.

.... Confused .....

I sent them to Motoliner.

Who straightned them and sent them back. Next day service.

I dont know much about forks so not to sure......

Would it be advisible to get them checked over by a mechanic?

The bikes done nearly 18k so would this be the sort of time it would need new springs?

Thanks

Edit: If they put the wrong oil in what would be the outcome? any major damage or just poor dampening?

Hi

Fair chance they stripped them but returned them without oil, expecting you to add your chosen amount / grade.

All the best
